Brilliantly situated YHA in London with affordable private rooms, cafe, bar, communal kitchen, lounge, clean rooms and comfy beds. About a 30minute scenic walk to Tower Bridge, an excellent location for budget travellers.

The rooms are new and mostly clean as are the bathrooms. Somewhat out of London but by the river so good for walks and quiet area. The staff are lacklustre and one overly tattooed guy in particular is extremely rude and overbearing interrupting when asking a question to another staff member. He snapped at me twice when I wasn’t even talking to him and cut me off. Manager just shrugged it off. I feel like YHA is badly run with staff that does not receive any training or guidelines. No rules or standards are being enforced neither among staff nor guests and bad behaviour by some individuals is being utterly ignored which makes it an unfriendly and tense place. Rain is coming through the roof more than through the showers even though the building was recently updated. Radiators not working either, they said it will be repaired but it wasn’t. More signs that management is not up to their job will not be using again

I was quite happy staying here for 2 nights. The room was clean although small but it was good to have my own room and bathroom with a bunk bed. It's the cheapest deal I could find in London. The staff were mostly friendly although one guy had an attitude at one stage when I asked a question. The location is quite good as the area is nice and safe and a short walk to the station. No towels provided in the room though. Breakfast is ok and quite cheap. I would stay again if in London.

This place was vibing - such a great atmosphere. ALL the staff without exception were fun, welcoming and caring. Great receptionists and wonderful ladies in the canteen. There is an on site cafe selling drinks and crisps/chocolate. They do breakfast and lunch but not evening meals. But there is a fully eqipped kitchen downstairs you can use, eat and store your food, they even provode lables for your food. We paid £47 for a private 2 person room for a Monday night. We got bunk beds that were really comfy, lockers ( you need your own lock) and fresh white linen. You need your own towels. They dont provide any toiletaries, which is fine, but I forgot to bring hand soap so washed my hands with shower gel. There was an ensuite shower room, which was clean and fnctionable. The only real issue was the water pressure was low so the shower trickled out.

The room and bathrooms were clean. The staff at reception very accommodating and polite. The breakfast staff were OK, except for an embarrassing moment when I asked for an extra piece of bread and one of them showed surprise and said "you've already had your breakfast but now you're asking for a refill"! That was honestly a very embarrasing moment for me as there were people around, and I opted not to take the bread although the guy who said that tried to insist when he saw I was not happy. On the website they mentioned it was unlimited breakfast, hence my request, especially that the initial filled portions were small. I was never told anything of the sort in any other YHA where I asked for just an extra piece of bread. The staff member may not be aware of the advert on the website. He may need to be told about it.

I had a 23 hour layover in London, and was planning to be in the area, so this hostel was a good, inexpensive option. Front desk staff were super friendly, the rooms and bathrooms were clean. It's conveniently located about a 12 min walk from the Canada Water tube station. I would've liked to see more room to put your stuff, especially when using the bathroom. Bathrooms are shared, but still, you need a hook or something to hang your towel, or a place to put your change of clothes when you shower. I had to put my clothes on top of the toilet seat cover and place my toiletry kit on top of the toilet paper dispenser. The water pressure in the shower was weak and it took forever to shower because the water was just like a spray. Also, halfway through my shower, the light turned off and I had to shower in the dark.

It was slightly annoying that I was required to change of room during middle of stay, although an advance notice was given. I just feel inconvenient. I was re-arranged to the 4th floor, it was nice to access via key card instead of keys for the below floors. It was miserable that I can’t wash myself probably at the shower due to the water pressure was small and unstable, the water was just about warm, and I had no control of the fan which was strongly on. There was no way to adjust the water temperature and the shower head is one of those at a fixed position that you must get wet from the head. I was in about 5 minutes only because I couldn’t stand with the cold. I quickly dressed myself, went to bed and wrapped myself with a duvet, hoped to warm myself up. But, it was a cold -1 DC night, the strong wind was coming through the window gap as it can’t be closed probably, and the radiator didn’t work probably either. I was shivering. I spoke to the receptionist about the issues and requested to change of room, or an extra duvet or a portable heater. She said she felt sorry about my experience but all the rooms were being occupied or repurposed for some other types of usage and they don’t have portable heater. She could prepare an extra duvet for me. She told me the water pressure at the showers on the 4th floor has always been an issue. There was no any alternative shower facilities can be offered to use at any other floors.Then, she told me to wait in the room and to check the issues. About 5 to 10 minutes later, she brought me an extra duvet. She put the issues on record, and promised to get the radiator fixed the next day. The window would put on maintenance. I appreciated the long black hair night-shift girl was trying to help on what she can. The radiator did get fixed the following day. Overall the location is quite good, 30minutes away from the city center by public transport. The area is mainly accommodation and trees, so it is more quiet, supermarket is about 10 minutes walking distance where is close to the Canada Water station. Staff members are friendly and they would try to help on what they can. There are some common areas for you to sit, and sofa is really comfortable. It is a huge bonus that WIFi cover at all area. The security is okay because all floors require an issued key to access, and the storage room requires another special key to access which can be borrowed at the reception and you have to return it each time. But, the main gate and entrance dont require key to access.
