1869 Príncipe Real House

We stayed at this hotel for four nights. Behind the rather anonymous entrance, we found a hidden pearl of a hotel. We were warmly welcomed by Hugo, and were served a glass of port wine while receiving a thorough and friendly information about the practical routines at the hotel, the surroundings, things to do, places nearby to see, and good restaurants to eat. The room was nice, clean and of good size. Coffee capsules and fresh water were supplied at the room. The breakfast buffet had what you need for a good start at the day. The location was perfect for exploring Lisbon at a short vacation, with the most to see within walking distance. But what contributed the most to make our days in Lisbon a good experience was the staff of the hotel, who did everything to make the stay pleasant, had the time for a friendly chat when passing in and out, and who really seemed enjoying to host us and the other guests. Thank you. We strongly recommend this hotel and will hopefully return there some time.

This was heaven on earth! The host was just fantastic, saw we were tired and hungry and took us to the breakfast buffet before we even checked in! He also gave us a free bottle of wine on our last day there. Yes, this is expensive for Lisbon, but you really do get what you paid for. We should also note that the neighborhood was incredible to walk around, including the vertical shopping mall next to the park at the top of the hill.

We stayed in one of the double rooms with a balcony for four nights and it was a pleasure. Air con was strong and adjustable (lifesaver for two Brits in a hot country), there were nice touches like a coffee machine, kettle, and fresh bottled water every day, and room service came every day to change the bed/towels etc. I slept the best I think I ever have in a hotel! Location-wise it couldn't have been better for us. We wanted somewhere that would allow us to experience the city and walk to most places but also that would give us some privacy and quiet time when needed. Principe Real is a beautiful area with much to offer in restaurants, cafes and bars as well as the famous viewpoint. One of the other big highlights however were the people working there. Every person we met was extremely welcoming and helpful, whether that's with sending us a list of recommendations (thank you, Hugo), booking our transfer back to the airport or looking after our bags while we explored the city. The hotel was made to feel like a home from home! We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again or recommend it to our friends and family as it was an absolute pleasure.

We absolutely adored our time at this delightful B&B – it truly exceeded all expectations! The small surprises of wine, chocolates, and those scrumptious egg tarts sprinkled throughout our stay were such thoughtful touches that made us feel incredibly special. Every staff member was incredibly kind and welcoming, always ready with a friendly smile and helpful suggestions. Their recommendations for nearby restaurants, all within walking distance, made exploring the area even more enjoyable. On one lazy morning when we overslept, they graciously extended breakfast hours just for us. Our room was not only impeccably clean but also carefully designed with every comfort in mind. Overall, our stay was nothing short of magical, thanks to the genuine warmth and hospitality of the staff.

I wouldn’t hesitate to book at this hotel at all! It is romantic, adorable and cute, but also modern and urban. The staff is just amazing! Helpful whatever you ask For! The cleaning is top, the breakfast is just enough to start a splendid day in Lisbon. And the location is also good, with a lot of options nearby! Fantastic!

This is an excellent boutique hotel in a quiet street just below the square in Principe Real-a vibrant part of Lisbon with Botanical Gardens, Museums, Restaurants and great views across the city. Nothing was too much trouble for the excellent people who run the place, and a particular thanks to Francesco for doing his best to ensure we had a very good stay. He, and also Hugo were , always available with advice on where to visit, how to get there, where to eat-and even down to booking taxis and giving travel recommendations. Those who looked after our room and breakfasts were also excellent. The breakfasts were good, the beds very comfortable, and the rooms spotlessly clean. Most rooms are accessed via the central stair case, but you are not expected to struggle up or down with your cases.Access to the hotel once you`re signed in is via key code, as is the case for your room. As this is Lisbon many of the places to be visited are down hill from the hotel-Barro Alto, Alfama, Chiado, for example , are all within an easy stroll. Getting back for those not fancying an uphill challenge is straightforward by reasonably priced taxis, or of course the Trams. All in all this is a very good base from which to explore the city, particularly if you are looking for an excellent welcome and people who care about your visit and go that extra mile.
