Filario Hotel & Residences

With over 20 years of travel and hotel experience I thought I found a gem on Lake Como but upon arriving felt strongly misled, duped, and deceived by the photos online for the Filario. While I booked many weeks in advance with constant hope to book a room in the MAIN hotel, I settled on our Apartment reservation after reading the highly rated reviews. But upon arrival, we were shocked to spend close to 1,000 Euro a night for a very stark, dirty, rundown, bare basics apartment. There is zero charm, warmth or modern luxe that the Filario site depicts. I am surprised that there are highly rated reviews for the apartments/annex - either they got nicer cleaner rooms and we have been subject to discrimination or those reviews are paid for- I would absolutely NOT recommend this hotel. The management- Federica Cataldi in particular kept saying there was nothing to be done as I booked the apartment myself after looking at the online photos. I tried to communicate that the photos online are NOT accurate at all and I have been deceived; and while she said the apartment with 4 beds is cheaper than a 2 bedroom hotel room, I had to share it is not about the money but about our comfort. And we are extremely disappointed. After being told that we would lose over 3000+ Euros for canceling our reservation and leaving (feeling trapped and deceived) I asked for a vacuum so I could clean the unit myself. The housekeeper arrived and did clean some areas upon my direction, but I do want to share photos of our apartment. We have stayed at other hotels in Italy with similar nightly pricing and they are much much much cleaner, updated, and luxurious, with kinder hospitality and management. The reason I am giving this 2 stars and not 1, is because of access to their bikes, kayaks and pool. If you book the Filario I recommend you only stay in their hotel and not their apartments/annex units. Or save yourself, and look somewhere else.

This place is truly magnificent. Make sure you get a lake view room/apartment (I’m not sure whether they all have this), it’s definitely worth the money - trust me. The rooms are clean, staff is friendly, facilities are modern, outdoor area is neat & gardens are perfectly manicured. Location is great, Bellagio is close by. Also, there are several lake ferries calling to Lezzeno every day. No doubt about it, if I’m going to revisit Lake Como, I will stay at the Filario.

This is the nicest hotel I have ever been to. Absolutely gorgeous rooms and views of Lake Como. It is also in a perfect area. The town of Lezzeno is quiet and tourist-free, so relaxing here is super easy, and there is a ferry a 10 minute walk away that will take you to all the popular towns on the lake. The pool here is stunning and the restaurant is one of the best in the area. The staff were also all genuinely so nice and helpful. I can't wait to come back.

This place is awesome! Amazingly f friendly staff. Great amenities. Quiet and restful. Beautiful views from the balconies. Fantastic food. Comfortable bed. Lovely grounds. Pier close by. View of Babienello from our patio. Everything anyone could want. We stayed at the end of September. It was perfeto! Grazie for a fantastic stay! I would stay here forever if I could. :)

Amazing Views right on Lake Como…. With a restaurant, Beach Bar, Pool, Great staff… everything you could want in a hotel!

I stayed in the hotel’s main building and the hotel is OK overall. The rooms are small but functional, have a great view and the staff is friendly. However, this hotel is marketed and priced as a luxury 5 star hotel and its is very far from that…At €900+ per night I was expecting much more than the basic offering this hotel gave me. Some examples (see pictures): no valet service nor bell service (you park and take care of your bags), old water sports equipment, torn down bathrobes and towels, poor maintenance of elevator signs, paper cups in bathroom rather than glass (which they don’t change btw), limited hours for restaurant, etc. So definitely not a 5 star hotel, more like a ~3star. I would only recommend if the cost was ＜€200/night and marked as a 3star hotel to manage expectations. And although we didn’t stay in the apartment/residence, from the outside they don’t look good (even worse than the hotel).

Eat at their restaurant - it’s absolutely divine , they are excellent in everything - service , comfort and Alice and Junaid, Ottman, Monsour, Fertosse, Oleg,Christian, chef Alessandro Parisi and the pastry chef Viola:)❤️❤️❤️. I love the FILO restaurant it’s truly the best on the lake Como

I really can’t imagine a better place to stay in Lake Como. We did a two bedroom apartment with two bathrooms, living room, kitchen and large patio deck. There is a washer/dryer combo, refrigerator, dishwasher and all the kitchen utensils needed. The accommodation was spotless. I saw that some critiqued that it was a multi level hike back along the beach ( we were the farthest unit) but it really wasn’t a chore once you figured it out and we used the car pass key route when we had the stroller. The beach is all rocks ( so bring water shoes ) but I did not see in my travels to different towns around Como a better beach area complete with bar and amazing pizzas. Best Aperol Spritz I had all week! They do need to replace a couple of the paddle boards but overall that is my only criticism. The staff were beyond helpful. We didn’t include breakfast($25 euros pp) in our rate and wish we had - no real breakfast cafes close by unless you go into Bellagio (15 minutes by car). Restaurant was very good but also some very nice options nearby - make a reservation - especially for the weekend - all the good ones book ahead! We found Lezzano the perfect place to relax away from the bigger towns but easy to access all of them by ferry from Bellagio. Again if you have a car - be in Bellagio before 10 and you can probably locate a free parking spot but the paid parking very reasonable. If we return to Lake Como we will definitely stay here again.

Beautiful lakeside hotel with infinity pool and 2 bedroom residences with beach access. The hotel has its own pier so you can get a water taxi to the door. The local ferry stop is a ten-minute walk away. The lakeside beach bar serves cocktails & amazing fresh stone-baked pizzas and salads. Downsides: The only breakfast option is a 25-euro PP breakfast. The beach bar doesn't open until 12pm but it would be great if it could open in the morning for coffee and lighter options. A couple of the older staff were not very hospitable but all the younger team were great
