If you like hill walking there are countless options from the house without needing to use the car. You could also walk down the hill and explore the beach at Sumner and it's cafes and restaurants. If you are here on the weekend there is the Lyttelton market or the Mt Pleasant market a short drive away. There are two sailing clubs close by and the opportunity to enjoy all the watersports you can think of.
