There were tatami areas and we could watch YouTube or whatever on the TV. It was a very relaxing trip! The front desk staff were also very kind. I'd like to stay here again.

We were on a family trip with my mother and sister who have trouble walking, so the hotel was in a great location for strolling around the arcade.

We chose to stay at this ryokan from Sunday to Tuesday. It is located in an alley next to Kumamoto Castle Kamidori Shopping Street, which is really convenient! Breakfast also allows me to taste various delicacies from the Kyushu region. It is carefully prepared, but the bathroom equipment may be a bit old due to its long history, but the cleanliness is OK! The bathing space is also very clean and comfortable! Every staff member in the hotel is so polite and considerate! This is a very different place to stay in a business hotel🥰

6/F The large public bath is large and clean. It is open until 00:00 in the evening. There are very few people there around 10 pm. My little daughter went to the large public bath with me for the first time when she was 3 years old and she never tired of it. A waterproof Tatami floor mat is laid on the ground floor to prevent slipping. This quaint hotel is located in the center of Kumamoto. There are many restaurants nearby, it is convenient for shopping, and there is a large public bath. The room is very spacious, and it is very comfortable for a family of three. I will stay here again next time I visit Kumamoto.

I had a good day's rest in a traditional Japanese accommodation rather than a modern one. Pros: The location of the accommodation is very good. You can walk to Kumamoto Castle for sightseeing, and since it's in the middle of a shopping street, you can do almost everything on foot. I was able to relieve my fatigue in the large public bath attached to the accommodation and had a delicious breakfast. The hotel staff's hospitality was very friendly and professional. Cons: The hotel felt a bit old.~^^

It's very convenient among the shopping streets. There are many paid open-air parking lots next to it, which is very convenient for self-driving (the parking lot building contacted by the hotel is a little further away) Eating, shopping, and entertainment are all within a 15-minute business district nearby, and it only takes 10 minutes to get to Kumamoto Castle. There is a convenience store next to the hotel, so you don't have to worry about being hungry at night. The hotel has a certain history. Although most parts have been simply renovated, many parts still have obvious signs of use over the years. The soundproofing of the room is not very good, and the sounds of children running and shouting in the corridor are very clear. And there is a strong drainage smell as soon as you enter the door, coming from the bathroom next to it. There is no power point next to the bed, and the TV can only watch local TV stations. It is more than enough as a hotel for a stopover and a night's rest. 

The overall impression was old, but the staff were friendly and the location was very good.

I think it used to be a ryokan in the past.After the renovation, it became a hotel, but it was a bit unreasonable.The location and price are perfect.

Located downtown very close to the castle. Parking is available in nearby parking buildings with charges paid to the hotel via a voucher system. Lobby is on the 3rd floor with lift access. Room clean, compact and well maintained. Room includes a tatami area and a futon bed. Fridge, kettle and wifi are included in the room. Compact bathroom comprises a bath-shower, basin and Japanese toilet. An array of in-room accessories are available in the lobby. Staff professional and helpful. Front office staff speak some English, with translation apps available when needed. Breakfast is a mix of Western and traditional Japanese in a 2nd floor dining room. The hotel has a traditional communal hot spa bath on the 6th floor. Yukata and slippers for moving to and from the bath are available in the lobby. Wasuka is a good option for the those looking for a Japanese experience but with some Western components.
