Banjara Retreat and Cottage Sojha

I arrived at the Banjara Cottage and Retreat, a very different place to my last Banjara accommodation in Thanedar. This place is very rustic but no less attractive. The views around the property and from my room were breathtaking. It was a little disconcerting be told on arrival that they had lost the key to my room, meaning I could only lock it from the inside. I could not lock it when I left for the day. My room was huge and beautifully clean, with a large bathroom. I found the bed to be rather uncomfortable but that is a very personal thing. I was the only guest for the first night so the manager phoned ahead to ask what I would like to eat that evening. The food was delicious. The staff were kind and I felt very safe as a solo female. I would happily recommend this property.

Visited this property with my family and had a wonderful stay there though i felt was a short one. Felt like spending more time. The view from our room was so serene , food was simply awesome and the hospitality extended was heart touching specially from the guy who was serving us, forgot to ask his name. First day, baigan bharta in dinner was so delicious, had never had such bhartha. Chef was friendly enough to share the recipe. The guy who was looking after the property was also very friendly and guided us very well with places to visit around the camp. Overall wonderful experience. Three days in April this year in Sojha camp at a very quiet time. There was only one other family there and it was pleasant to chat with them and watch a chess duel between mother and son! This camp had a very homely feel to it. My room was vast and cosy at night and the morning breakfast on the terrace at an early hour was wonderfully peaceful. Food was far more than I needed. A very sympathetic atmosphere to the place and had the feeling that a very good place for families. The situation was beautiful. My highlight was a very easy stroll up to Raghupur Fort which i went with my driver, Yuvraj who ran the camp and a guide. A memorable morning capped with wonderful views. As with my stays at other camps I was very well and attentively looked after. My comments on the review for Sangla camp re wifi obviously apply here. That apart only happy positives to my stay.

We were a group of 10, and stayed at this property for couple of nights. The property has a nice location facing the mountains. The rooms have a bit of old world charm and have nice sit outs with sofa and chairs. The place is full of photographs of tourist locations in the Himalayas The food was excellent with each dish having a different flavour as it should be. There are nice areas to relax in the property and one can even walk down to the adjoining village Only minus is the lack of adequate power back up and sluggish hot water supply Would certainly recommend as the place is about half hour from Jalori pass from where one can do treks

We loved our stay here. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, everything was very clean, the views are amazing, and the hosts are awesome! It’s also very close to Jalori Pass and dozens of beautiful hikes. Highly recommend to all types of travelers.

All properties of Banjara Camps give you the a consistent quality yet a different character/ experience. The Banjara Village Retreat at Shoja is a small warm place with an amazing staff who go out of their way to ensure your stay if comfortable and the cherry on cake was the volunteer.. Tulsi who was with us during our treks and making sure that we experience everything this place has to offer. I will recommend this place to everyone who would like to experience pristine Himachal and a warm set of people. Last but not the least , the property manager Yuvraj and his boys sing and dance very well and if you insist they give an outstanding folk performance which you must not miss .

Just wonderful…..the weather, the smiley staff, the ambience, the tasty food and much more…… Volunteer Tulsi and the manager Yashraj, always helpful. Daily weather report with a suggestions where to travel or not. Would visit again and again

We visited this place with family. Every one of us enjoyed every moment of our stay. Loved the hospitality extended by all crew members. Awesome food, extremely helpful people - to name a few of them - Tulsi ji, Yuvraj ji, Mukesh (Meghu)... The food was simply superb. Whatever you need, will be made available with a smile. They arranged a cake in such a remote place within 4 hours. My parents never felt they were on a campsite.

An amazing place to stop overnight, the staff, food and views from the garden terrace are absolutely amazing. I can't recommend Banjara retreat enough. If you are visiting make sure to have a good chat with Yuraj who is the manager, an incredibly kind guy who will make sure your stay is the best it can be!
