Stayed 14 nights as fam of 4 (primary aged kids) & we loved it! Set in the middle of farming land you’ll see cows, bulls, goats, chickens, cats every day as well as soul soothing views of the salt lake (which is a viewing point for the island and where you can ride a horse around) and from our balcony (44) we had a partial sea view. Each to their own but we detest the all inclusive vibe and bustle of brand new 4/5 star resorts and would rather pay less for accommodation and venture out for our meals (not cooking in) but if that’s what you want then book it in Tigaki at a different hotel because that’s on offer if you want it eg Gaia village. ‘Oasis’ on the other hand is an oasis! Tranquil. Calm. Most peaceful pool we’ve ever experienced over 14 consecutive days and also the cleanest! It was a joy to swim in. Oasis is a family run operation & it’s done so with military precision. On my morning walks I’d see extra family over helping with gardening and maintenance duties. Every day we had cleaning from the same friendly cleaners. Never experienced a place like this. Tigaki is a family friendly resort on the north coast and is known for its beach and spa. It is mainly one long(ish) road of restaurants, shops, travel and vehicle agents, ice cream stops and bars. No arcades, no clubs. Tends to go quiet around midnight-ish. We either walked right out of Oasis towards the road (and then left at the top which brings you to Tigaki beach) or right and then second left (you’ll see Gaia village - walk past this and a couple of other big hotels and you’re at the spa and Plori - more on those in a moment) or left out of Oasis around the salt lake (past alikes- again more in a minute) and you come out at arguably the best part of the beach in Tigaki. Free beach but also on the salt lake / alikes / flamingo beach you’ll find the sunbed vendor Vangelis Beach - oh my days; took me back to Thailand but with a totally Greek feel; Curtains round the sunbeds for privacy; safety deposit box within price not extra, comfy beds, a wooden swing, hammock, kids toys for free to use, a toilet (most don’t have toilet), books, water sports (we body boarded free of charge and also paddle boarded for just a 10 euro deposit which we got back on return). Massage is extra cost and very good. BBQ food cooked fresh when you order. Again family ran, honest, if you pay in advance you can book a bed of choice right on the front. Divine. Spa - haman - only one on the island - I went once at beguinning and once at end on VIP packages. Excellent. People travel from all over the island for this - it’s a 7/8 minute walk from Oasis! Our preferred restaurants were (1)Alikes - from the terrace you can see sunset, the food is good and the staff are lovely. Kids garden set up for play, prices are cheap here. (2) Plori - seafood !! No kids menu but they did a smaller gyros and the kids had that. (3) apryos me… I can’t remember the full name but it’s the only steakhouse on the main ***** clo
