Red Dragon Inn

7 of us had a wonderful couple of days this week. The rooms were all very well furnished and well kept. We all enjoyed an excellent breakfast and dinner from a menu for all tastes. The staff were all friendly and helpful. We would certainly recommend the inn and hope to return ourselves in the future.

We stayed here this week on the way back home to West Wales from the Highlands, room was a very good standard very large comfortable bed, good bathroom with very good sized towels etc, decent sized flat screen tv etc. Coffee & tea making facilities in room also biscuits & a bottle of water, also hair dryer. Large bar area with a open fire serving a good choice of alcoholic drinks, soft drinks and coffee, we had a mixture of small plates and 2 puddings, can recommend eating here, good quality pub grub. Breakfast was also very good, could not fault! All staff were very helpful & could not do enough to assist with a very good stay. We also booked another 2 night for June on the way / back from Scotland.

Booked a break for the middle of January and received an email from the Red Dragon on Christmas eve cancelling the booking. Contrary to what the manager has stated in previous reviews they did not contact customers on an individual basis...I received a group email which revealed the personal email addresses of the other affected customers and consequently gave all the other customers my personal email address which I believe is contrary to GDPR regulations. When questioned about this via email (since their phone lines also appear to be out of action) the Red Dragon chose to completely ignore my concerns and have refused to respond at all. Also contrary to what the manager would lead you to believe I was never offered alternative accommodation or alternative dates despite making both the Red Dragon & Groupon aware that this was booked as a gift for my parents and that i was therefore anxious to make alternative arrangements so as not to disappoint them. My advice to anyone looking to book; dont. The management have shown themselves to have no interest in their customers and so I would return that sentiment and find somewhere else to stay more deserving of the custom. *Archer,Booking 10th Jan - just so the management cant do their usual claim that it's an anonymous review and therefore cant be trusted.

We booked here through Late Rooms. Unfortunately they had finished trading before our stay. When I checked to see if we were booked in, the staff member said he did not have anyway of telling me if I was until the day before we were due to stay. I rang back on the day before our stay and the reception I got because I was enquiring about a booking through Late Rooms was appalling. A chap said I was not booked in as I had booked with a company that no longer was in business. He was a bit off hand with telling this and when I said that they could have told me this the last time I called, he said I was being arsey and put the phone down on me. So I could neither cancel or get conformation about my booking until the day before I was due to stay, so one chap said. The other being the rude one not me. I have read a few bad reviews about this place, and the staff there confirmed this. I did call back again and ask to speak the the guy who put the phone down on me, and was told I couldn't. They also refused to give me his name. If staying in Kirkby Lonsdale stay clear and go to The Royal that is superb (but was fully booked) or Plato's who in the past have been very very helpful with any stay we have had there. This won't be my only review of this place either. We ended up staying at The Plough, 4 miles away, and we were glad we did. It will be interesting to see if the Manager makes a comment after this review. Or if he gets in touch with me.

Just returned from a last minute one night stay. We booked the last available room, a standard double, and it was far from standard. It was beautifully decorated, and the bathroom was very modern and spacious. Everywhere was immaculately clean. Staff at check in were lovely and helpful. The breakfast in the morning was very good, and Sharon, who sorts the running of breakfast, is very friendly and does an amazing job. We will definitely return to the red dragon.

Went for a late lunch and it was excellent. The food quality couldn't be faulted. My son had a fish finger butty which was substantial and tasty. I had a small plate of pumpkin tortellini with a wonderful red pesto sauce with olive oil, onions and very tiny pieces of courgette in it. It was the best pasta dish I have ever eaten whilst out. Absolutely lovely staff and a gorgeous place with atmosphere. We will definitely be back. Superb!
