Thalori Traditional Ecotourism Village

The location of kapetaniana village up on the asterousia mountain with views of the Libyan sea. is amazing! I will give them credit for what they’ve done up there, being so far from civilization. The closest store or taverna is 20 to 30 minutes with difficult and scary road but the hospitality is not as expected. I am originally from Crete from the area of chania and their service came across as very laid-back and hospitable and unprofessional . We had to ask multiple times for any activities or how the system works there.. They have exclusivity for breakfast, lunch, dinner and any services so they should be clear and prices should be stated. Otherwise, you have to come prepared with your groceries and all you need to eat. We did not pre-book a room because we wanted to check it out before we get there and decide how many nights we were going to stay. Initial agreement was for one night for two couples two separate rooms but they wanted us to stay in one unit with2 bedrooms and shared bathrooms. I felt too much pressure to decide on something I didn’t really want. We were threatened that we had to pay the second full night because we wanted to leave after our first night. The responsible person Poppi was very pushy . I was not very happy with the way she behaved and even though I liked the place, I don’t think I will be going back. Do not pre-pay the room! The rooms are clean, but we ended up getting a room that the fireplace was malfunctioning, and there was smoke coming out of it. it was also cold in the room and the heat was not sufficient for this time of the year. They only have air-conditioning unit in the rooms. Anyway, The views are amazing and our company was great, so we had a good time with good wine and Rakhi . The staff at the restaurant was also very polite but not very informed and the food was very good. Therefore, the 4 stars are not for the behavior, but for the suboptimal services. The pool, even though it was supposed to be heated it was not operating. Could behavior goes long ways and gets you more customers ! No other organized activities were available. It’s a paradise for hikers though and nature watching. It is not easy to get down to the beach from the hiking paths. If you can bargain the price down and you like to hike, you should stay there.

The perfect spot to get away and unplug from city life. Beautiful views all around with both mountains and coast in sight . A wonderful on-site restaurant. Excellent hikes nearby. A rental car is ideal for getting around south Crete but once we arrived at Thalori we found ourselves with little desire to go anywhere else

The best thing about Thalori is the location, totally amazing, a holiday village created on top of an abandoned village, on top of a mountain. Once you've gone up, you won't want to come down again until you leave (the drive is fairly standard for Crete but be prepared). The wifi is a bit on and off (beware if you have a teenager in tow). We stayed 4 nights and enjoyed it. Breakfast, lunch and dinner, all ordered off a menu, eventually we ordered what seemed to be their staples and they were lovely. Salads were very good too. Everything is very well done but there is something about it that doesn't quite work. The place is so out of the way that although the staff and people who run it are lovely, you do have to work quite hard to get service and customer care. Arrival is a bit casual and no help with bags, any problems reported get a very quizzical face. No-one ever explained to us about ordering food and wine, or about activities that are available, or about how the rooms are serviced. Very laid back. Not sure but I think it is more for greeks who want a retreat. Pool is not huge but really nice. The views are quite incredible and the accommodation is a very good standard. Before you go up the mountain, make sure you have absolutely everything you need. I do recommend visiting and thanks for a nice stay.

Probably one of the most original holidays experience in my whole life. The hotel is an actual part of the village on top of the hill, with a fantastic view on the mountains and the sea. The rooms and the outside spaces have been executed with a very high quality. Everything is clean and beautiful. Once there, there is no alternative for food but to eat at the hotel. Hopefully, they offer a menu rich enough to stay one week, with really large portions (one Greek salad is enough for 3) at very decent prices. The infinity pool is fantastic, but rather cold (not really a problem in summer) . The place can be quite windy, but it's part of being so high on the mountains. Many hiking routes from to hotel. The service is just perfect.

Le site est vraiment incroyable et la route (en excellent état) pour y arriver donne le ton avec des paysages quasi lunaires !Nous avons réalisé le tour en bateau snorkeling et avons passé un très bon moment à la découverte de criques, grottes et même une plage de sable noir. L’appartement (pour 5) est spacieux et la restauration de bonne facture (a noter pas de poisson ou fruit de mer malgré la proximité avec la mer). En tout, nous sommes restés 2 nuits, cela nous a semblé idéal car l’endroit est très isolé. Nous conseillons cette étape pour découvrir un autre visage de la Crête.

Hotel: Sehr stilvoll renovierter Dorfteil mit einzelnen Gebäuden. Malerisch auf Hügelkamm gelegen mit Blick sowohl auf Küste wie zu nahem Gebirge. Die herzliche Gastfreundschaft der Hotelfamilie ist so überdurchschnittlich fantastisch wie die authentische griechische Kochkunst! Auch die Tierhaltung auf der dazugehörigen Farm widerspiegelt das Fachwissen und die grosse Herzlichkeit der Thalori Crew! Reiten, wandern oder nur-relax; Alle Wünsche werden wahr. Auch ein Bade-Strand-Transfer zur 700m tiefer gelegenen Südküste wird angeboten.

Das Thalori Resort ist ein wunderschöner Ort mitten im nirgendwo in den Bergen. Wir hatten eine tolle Auszeit, mit wahnsinniger Aussicht von Pool und Terrasse und leckeren Essen! Wir können jedem der die Ruhe fernab von Touristenmassen sucht, diese Unterkunft nur empfehlen! Unser unerwartetes Highlight: der Rote Bete Salat - und ganz generell die Vielfalt vegetarischer Speisen!

Paradiesischer Ort. Malerisches Dorf, liebevoll renoviert. Das Zimmer war gross und mit uriger Atmosphere. Popi und Marcos sind sehr gastfreundlich und kompetent. Sie helfen mit allem. Die Wanderungen in der Umgebung sind spektakulär, und für einen ruhigeren Tag ist der Pool luxuriös und die tiere der Farm einen besuch wert. Wir können Thalori sehr empfehlen und hoffen bald wieder zu kommen.
