Not sure why this is rated a 2-star hotel. I'd give it a 4-star level. It is a vacation club (timeshare) so it does not have the array of restaurants and bars, but for a timeshare it is loaded with amenities. Our suite has a nice living room with dining table and microwave and a separate bedroom. The bathroom was innovative, spacious and large. Separate tub and adjoining shower. Japanese style Toto modern toilet. Other amenities: Free laundry machines on two floors. Ultra modern and large capacity. Infinity pool on top level 8 BBQ grills and bar/grill at pool Bellman Longe with coffee and nice lounge chairs Ritz-Carlton style service

The entire hotel is brand new and absolutely gorgeous. The staff was phenomenal and the bed was one of the best I have ever slept in. Their rooftop infinity pool has a phenomenal view of the ocean. We were able to relax in the pool while whale watching! Richard was a pleasure and exceptionally helpful.

Pros: Most of the staff we encountered were fantastic. We had a good check in experience. Good location. About a ten minute walk to the beach. Room is clean. Balcony door does open; there is standing room to peek out and see downtown. Cons: No hot tub and no shade at the pool. They stated it’s because of wind on the roof, but a small permanent shade structure could help. The shade is off to the side, down stairs so it is difficult if you have children swimming. No oven or stove (or hot plate). Our room had a microwave, dishwasher, and rice cooker. The kitchen is why we chose a vacation club, but we had to eat most meals out. The toilet is in a small closet in the bathroom but doesn’t have a door. The hotel didn’t have any chairs or umbrellas you could borrow for the beach, like the other Marriott down the road. Such a perk when you aren’t “beach front.” Lastly, we booked through the Bonvoy app which stated all taxes and fees were included. The hotel charged us 300$ in taxes and fees upon check out. I’ve included a screenshot below in case it can save others from getting stuck with a bigger bill than they expected upon check out. When we raised it with management, they just kept sending us a folio bill. It didn’t seem transparent.

Brand new hotel. The staff from the valet to the reception are exceptional. Everything about this hotel is good, except of course, not near the beach. It’s located opposite to the Ritz Carlton and the best part of town away from the beach. The pool is stunning and the same view as the Ritz. .They do check you out at 10 am (Ritz and all other Marriot properties check out at 11 or noon and super flexible) and here even though your Lifetime Plat / Titanium, it doesn’t matter. We were able to push to 11 am but left sooner. Never can understand this, they give you the room at 4pm and next morning out at 10 am, does it really take 5-6 hours to clean a one bedroom? I gave a 5 star because the pool is stunning, great owners room, pool bar, and the Lei Making and Ukulele playing classes are so worth attending & experiencing. We would stay at this hotel just for these classes. The best part is even though you check out at 10, they allow you to hang around the owners room by the pool with showers, lockers, couches, TV etc. The cabanas are free and first come first serve, The bar tender was very helpful and they serve food at the pool bar. Overall exceptional and definitely will be staying again!!!
