Kirk Lea Guest House

Does what it says on the tin, cheap and local to Huddersfield town centre, nice and clean and the staff are friendly and courteous. Stayed a while ago when there was a food festival in Huddersfield, had a good time and would definitely stay there again.

The host Pearl was absolutely lovely and did all she could for us, the room was clean, the bed was comfy the only thing I would say was the shower pressure isn’t amazing but we weren’t bothered because we loved staying here, breakfast was made to order and really really nice, made us want to come back again.

A good sized room with a big TV, comfortable bed and en-suite toilet and shower. My room was at the front of the property, and it's quite a busy road outside. It didn't bother me, but a light sleeper may be disturbed by traffic. The breakfast was delicious.

We were attending a gif at the Victoria Theatre and decided to stay over in Halifax Kirk Lea is a cost B&B near the centre. It was a 5 min taxi ride into town. The room was comfortable and had tea making facilities. Gary was very friendly and cooked us a delicious breakfast

I stayed here for four nights in order to spend some time in Calderdale. The accommodation was very good and suited me, as a mature single traveler, perfectly. The host, Pearl, was friendly and welcoming. The room , a single, was small but clean and tidy and the bed was comfortable. I had exclusive use of a large bathroom over the corridor. The shower was excellent. Breakfast was served at a civilised time (between 7.30 and 8.30) and needed to be ordered the previous day. It was a good breakfast which set me up for the days of walking, travelling on public transport etc. Good value for money in a town that appears to struggle for Bed and Breakfast accomodation away from the usual chains. It is easily accessible for the splendid town of Halifax, with a regular bus service running to and from Huddersfield. It is opposite the Royal Calderdale Hospital so there vcan be ambulance sirens and the windows need to be closed at night. I was there when the temperature was in the upper 20's and had to keep it open. I had a very positive experience, saw three football matches and a Rugby League game thanks to the decent Northern Rail services that trundle about and had some superb beer in The Three Pigeons, which is a 20 minute walk away. I would have no hesitation in recommending Kirk Lea to travellers who, like me, have no issue with being out all day

Stayed one night for the Duran Duran gig, in room 3. Lovely little room which was very comfortable. There was even a fan supplied, which was great! Breakfast the next morning was lovely, and Pearl is really friendly. Only downside is that although the room has a private bathroom it's not actually en suite, it's across the corridor, so if like me you need it a lot during the night you might feel a bit self-conscious. Easy to find by bus, car or foot, only a mile from Piece Hall, and across the road from the hospital, so very handy all round. Would definitely use again if I need a bed in Halifax for a night or two.
