Although staff was superb, the hotel was not as expected. It is on a pedestrian only street with parking in a general lot a few hundred feet away. Access is limited to a narrow staircase and our room was 3 stories up with no lift. We’re traveling for 2 1/2 weeks so, had larger suitcases. The room was less than 90 square feet including the bathroom. Location was excellent, breakfast good and Gallway an easy city to see and walk. Just be aware of the access and limited room space.

Two reasons why I left disappointed: 1) the noise! Deafening all night as the bars below are blaring loud music. The ear plugs are no match for the street noise and blaring bar music. 2) the room size! Ridiculously small. No dresser, no table, no chair, no closet, no amenities, no coffee, no NOTHING. Just a small bedroom with a bed and a tiny standup shower. I’m not saying staff aren’t helpful because they are very kind, but honestly this place should be $100/night given its limitations. It just left me feeling I should have paid double what I paid and stayed somewhere where I could actually relax! Date of stay: August 2024 Trip type: Traveled with friends.

The service here is awful. There is no facility for making hot drinks in the room, not even any glasses for getting a drink of water. We were told that the breakfast room was open to get drinks but when I needed a drink I found it locked. I phoned reception and was told it was locked overnight. Our room was tiny and cramped, with nowhere to put luggage. There was only one bedside table between two beds. There was no phone charging point by the bed. The TV was mounted on a wall at 90 degrees to the direction of the beds. There was no proper blind at the window, only a cracked Venetian blind with a hole allowing street lighting through. The only way to help abate noise was to use earplugs. In fact, this place is so bad that this is written while still here.

What a lovely traditional hotel ! I don’t know why people have moaned about this place, it says it’s small ( the building is 700 years old!?) and no lift so just use the stairs ! The hotel itself is in the heart of everything. We were facing the street and the windows had a noise screen and earplugs were provided if you wanted to use them. The breakfast was nice with a selection of various things such as cheese, fruit, cereals toast bagels etc The only thing I’d say would have made it even better was to have a kettle and some kind of drink facilities in the room. Also some hangers (no wardrobes or drawers at all) would have been good to hang clothes off the hooks you have put up in the rooms. Some more Towels would have been nice & they could have been bigger ( but that’s minor !) Overall it’s a fab little place just what we needed (6 adults on a birthday weekend!) steeped in history and interesting facts. We would recommend this hotel to anyone going to Galway.

Reading some reviews made me think did I book the right place for our trip. Well here’s my review. It was excellent. Position of the hotel is superb, right in the heart of the city, yes it can get noisy, but if you book the centre near all the bars, you can’t be taken by surprise. We went over the weekend & noise outside you could hear, but it was just people enjoying themselves, we soon went over to sleep. Great bed, room was fine, we stayed William Shakespeare room. It was sleeping only, we didn’t plan to stay in the room all day, so was perfectly fine. Clean, bed comfy, was quite trendy. No problems. The stairs would not suit disabled or possibly those with really bad respiratory problems, but was fine for us, we’re 52 & reasonably fit. The building is 700 years old. Continental breakfast was well stocked. We would definitely book this hotel again. Oh by the way, high rise car park at Hyde Car oaks was great & €8 a day.

This place is truly in the heart of Galway. It is a cute hotel with A lot of history and character. It is true the rooms are quiet small however we found it to very functional. The hotel does not have a lift/elevator so you do have to go up and down which is not a bad thing and the young man who checked is in kindly offered to get luggage to our rooms. I was worried since I heard it was very loud however they have an extra sound blocking window, that once it is closed, the noise from the pub area below is almost completely gone. There are Are plugs provided in the room but we did not need them. We enjoyed our stay and would return!

Why oh why didn’t I read the reviews??? Boom boom boom! It’s 12.30 on a Saturday night and the noise is deafening, despite the earplugs supplied! Should have had an inkling when I saw them in the very small room after climbing three sets of stairs to get here! No wardrobe no bedside lockers, have to get out of bed to turn off lights, tiny bathroom, no powere shower , asked for glasses for bedroom… twice, never got them. This establishment should come with alerts re…. Stairs, size of bedrooms and continuous noise outside, not for the elderly or faint hearted. Thought it would be nice to be central, it would be nicer to have room to move around bedroom unrestricted and somewhere to store clothes… no drawers would be nicer to go to bed and rest than listen to the monotonous beat of mindless music for hours and hours on end plus the sound of patrons shouting and screaming. Am all on for people enjoying themselves but sorry not at the expense of my mental health and rest period. Don’t get me wrong it’s a lovely hotel , bed room despite its tiny size is oozing with character, but I’m tired, I want to lie in my very nice bed and sleep not pull my hair out!!! Absolutely won’t stay here again, can only hope tomorrow night is quieter!!😩😩

Location, location location!!! Cute Hotel in the middle of Galway , Latin Quarter lots of history. This is a small, 10 room, Family owned hotel. We met Hazel and her son Scott, they are so nice and helpful. We had sir Lancelot, which was very small, However, we were prepared for that, due to the past reviews. The location is the best! They have a breakfast room, every morning, which is very nice!!! They have fresh fruit, meats and cheeses, bagels, toast, coffee, tea, orange juice. We are in good shape, so carrying our luggage up the tiny stairwells was no problem, however, this could be an issue for others. They have set up an arrangement with the closest parking structure which is literally right around the corner. 10 euros a day, very tight to get in, but we’ve run into that with several places in Europe. You will park and then go to the office and tell them that you were staying at the seven boutique hotel, and they will ask you how many nights, you pay in advance they give you a ticket and that is your in and out for the entire time that you’re staying there. Several pubs including the one across the street with 7 bars!!! Will definitely stay here again!!!

Tiny but perfect location to stay for the buzz of Galways atmosphere! Loved this hotel. Its decor is fab, not expected, but makes it a delight to stay in. The room was small but the history and location made the stay wonderful. Right in the heart of the Galway buzz. Would 100% book again.

When you notice ear plugs on the one bed side table, you realise you are in the heart of Galway! 3 floors with a very narrow stairway. room for one small suitcase. Sliding suitcases down on their side was the best option to move them up and down. A real benefit of the tiny rooms was you could lie in bed and operate almost all the light switches from the bed, a tiny shower with a broken shower head, not even a glass in the room, no face washer - incredibly basic for the price. The pluses were Scott the night manager who maneuvered 4 suitcases for the 4 of us up stairs and the breakfast was really good.

Stayed here on our Wild Atlantic Way trip. It's a fantastic hotel right off of Quay Street, so right next to the hustle and bustle, but enough away that it doesn't disturb you in the night. Staff were very friendly. They helped me with the air con as it didn't seem to be working - turned out it just needed a little time to heat up before it actually kicked out any heat, then the room was toasty warm! Beds were comfortable, great nights sleep. People complain about the rooms being small... but unless you're having an aerobics class in them then these rooms do just what you need them to. Breakfast was from 0800, so we missed this as we had to be up early. Could do with being a bit earlier for those leaving early. We were in the top floor, whilst the shower wasn't cold, it could have been a bit hotter. We booked on ***********, the parking said 'parking possible nearby, reservation not neccessary'. This hotel gets discount in the Spaniah Arch car park, but I was told this via *********** a day before but by the time I saw it I'd parked in the Haynes Car Park a 10 minute walk away, which only cost €9.50 for the 13 hours I was parked there. I think it would be better if we were given this information at the time of booking, but better if it were advertised before booking. Overall, would recommend this hotel and would stay again.
