Rodeway Inn Galax Highway 58

Nicest part was the owners went out of their way to help my husband and me. Entire motel is being renovated, so limited parking. Immediately installed a shower grab bar when I complained. Brought me a computer chair and moved the other one so my husband had a place to sit. BUT ...$139 was way too much to pay for one night.

I am not that fussy about my motel rooms, but this was NOT a good stay. The supposed non-smoking room smelled musty and bad when we entered. The carpet was filthy. The room had spider webs hanging from the ceiling, and there was a thick layer of dust on the top of the drapes. When I turned on the heater, huge dust bunnies flew out. We had to run the heater and leave the door open to try to air the place out. I never did see what the office staff looked like. The office was locked at check in, and even though I asked to come in from the cold, I was told no. All business was conducted through a small slot in the window at the side of the office, while the windows were covered with posters and signs. There was a coffee can on the ground outside the office to leave the room cards in. All in all, a creepy, unfriendly experience.
