Just home from this small but friendly hotel, rooms are a decent size (as are the balconies) with usb points next to bed, pool towels are provided, kettle and mini fridge in the room. Great location and the views are fantastic, short walk to bars, restaurants and a shopping centre. Easy flat walk in to Funchal but buses are also very frequent and just outside the hotel (well about a min walk to the bus stop where the hop on hop off bus also stops) Pool is small but there is rarely anyone actually around it so it didn’t really matter it was empty most of the time we were there. The breakfast was very good, nice choices and even Prosecco! just a shame the orange juice was from a machine! All the staff were very friendly. We would definitely return to this hotel and the fact it is adults only is a big bonus!

We’ve been to the Regency Cliff a few times now. It’s a lovely quiet hotel (perhaps a title too quiet in the evenings) we didn’t eat dinner at the hotel, but breakfast was good, the rooms are clean and comfortable and the location of the hotel is great. It’s a way out of the centre of Funchal, but the hotel runs a minibus and buses are easily available. I’d certainly go back again!

Nice hotel in a great Funchal location - close to shopping, numerous restaurants and water front. Rooms were nicely appointed. My only complaint was that our reservation got messed up. Several months in advance we booked two suites. However, upon arrival we found that only one suite was available so our friends had to settle for what the hotel called a “suite” - a single room consisting of a king bed and two chairs pushed together. The suite we got had a separate bedroom and living area - a true suite. We were quite disappointed

This hotel is located in an excellent position with great views over the sea. It is close to a modern shopping centre and within close proximity to Funchal. There is a lovely promenade beneath the hotel and the area is quiet compared to the bustling city centre. The hotel offers a shuttle service into the city but it is just as easy to catch the bus from outside the hotel. Another advantage is that the aerobus stops and picks up outside the hotel. The hotel provides lovely comfortable, well equipped and spacious bedrooms with wonderful views. We appreciated, the fridge and the in room tea/coffee making facilities. Our room was tended daily. The hotel was quiet, relaxing and provided a lovely breakfast. The staff were very pleasant, attentive and informative. If you are a non smoker and it's important for you to have a balcony be wary when choosing this hotel as our experience was that smoke from our chain smoking guests in the adjacent room polluted our balcony forcing us inside. It even forced us to close our balcony door as their smoke infiltrated into our room. On a stuffy windless night this was extremely annoying. We complained to the manager who was sympathetic and apologetic. We also made some suggestions to prevent future guests being adversely affected.

We stayed for 14 days in January 25. The hotel was small and very quiet mainly with older couples. We said on a B&B basis and the buffet breakfast with good especially when served on the terrace, (weather permitting). We took advantage of the discount offered for dinner one evening which was varied and good but buffet style again. The hotel needs refurbishing as the rooms and leisure facilities are clean and looked after by the staff, they are a little faded and things such as the TV's and gym equipment need upgrading. Wifi was good.

Well as a previous contribute has said I would ignore some of the negative reviews. What were people expecting The Ritz! We found the staff very friendly and helpful. Made better when we were given a free upgrade to a suite which came with two balconies. We found our room clean and spacious though bit disappointed you had to pay for the safe, however the fridge came in useful!. As vegetarians we had no problem with the food which is served as a buffet. We also made use of the dinner deal which allowed you to purchase 3 evening dinners for 84 Euros each. The hotel offers a courtesy mini bus however we found that you can purchases a bus token/pass which was really convenient (bus stop near by) and cheep at 1.30 euro a trip. Would recommend and would come again.
