 Romantic Paradise is found at the hotel, which is like going back in time 100 years. It truly is a “room with a view.. “ there have been many famous people who have stayed in this hotel over the last 200 years, but you can see why… there are only 10 rooms and yes it’s quite expensive, but if you want to be left alone then this is the place for you. Don’t expect fancy… but expect peace and quiet and historic elegance. There are no kettles in your room - and bringing food from the outside is discouraged. The rooms have truly stunning views. I believe rated to be in the top 10 of all hotel views in Italy. We had guests from USA, Germany and Uk staying when we were there.. and none of us could stop staring at the view. The staff were great, attentive, polite and knowledgeable and the food ( breakfast) was terrific. I personally would stay here every time I am travelling in Italy. Be warned it’s not for those with mobility issues The hotel is a 20-30 minute walk up a very steep track from town. ( or you can get a cab). It’s easier to walk down and get a cab back! We did walk it up… Cab from the train station £15 ish.. Inside the hotel you also have quite a lot of stairs. Bring bug repellant, there are mosquitos in Florence which will chomp at your ankles whilst you eat at bars / cafes - get a strong repellent! We did trips on the train to Pisa, ( 50 minutes) and Rome ( 1.5 hours) - can’t compliment the train travel enough. We travelled in both 2nd class and business on the train and at 250kmh the first class is like being on a plane with free Prosecco and snacks. We ate regularly at “osteria del corso” in town - great wine, pasta and steak. You are spoiled for choice down there, but there are a lot of crap restaurants with pre bought pizza bases.. so we recommend the osteria who make their own pasta too. Even in October Florence and Rome were crazily busy… If you want a place of sanctuary then give this place a go!

I would live there if I could. In fact, I loved staying here so much I posted an Instagram post dedicated solely to the property because it was that beautiful. It goes beyond charming. One day I stayed there for the majority of the day to wander the property, drink aperol spritz’s by the pool, do yoga in the gorgeous gardens and generally relax surrounded by the ambiance that the hotel provides. Imagine being in Florence for the first time and skipping a day off to just hang at the hotel. I loved it. If I ever get married it will be here. The staff were excellent as well! It doesn’t necessarily have the type of amenities of a “standard” hotel does but that’s not why you would want to stay here. It has a family owned (which it is) vibe. Everyone was very helpful and lovely. The place is out of a picture book fairy tale. A highlight of my trip to Florence & Italy…honestly wish I had stayed the whole week there. Next time!

What a lovely stay at Hotel Torre di Bellosguardo. Everyone was so helpful and friendly. Our room (No. 9) had such a fabulous view of the city, and we felt privileged to stay in a hotel with so much history. It was amazing to come back from the hustle and bustle of the city to the peacefulness of the hotel. The pool area is well-kept, with plenty of sunbeds. We had food from the ‘snack’ menu, and it was perfectly ample for lunch (pizzas and platters) and is served up to 10 p.m. Only a short taxi ride away are some great trattorias/restaurants. We particularly loved walking around the hotel grounds - you don't need a gym as the inclines will keep you fit - and seeing the donkeys, and especially Silver, the cat. Don't expect mod cons and ultra-perfect plumbing, just a fabulous, relaxing stay.

We stayed at Bellosguardo for the three nights leading up to our wedding, and it was a refreshing change after being in the heart of the city. This property is stunning, with an incredible pool that even offers poolside service. While it is rustic and lacks high-end amenities, we were aware of this beforehand and it didn’t bother us at all. We booked a total of five rooms here for our family, and I visited each one—they were all exceptional. We stayed in Room 11, which was my favorite. It had a walk-in shower, gorgeous views, and was beautifully decorated. The hotel staff were incredibly accommodating, especially on our wedding day when our photographers and hair and makeup team arrived. They provided us with everything we needed and were so kind and helpful throughout our stay. Though it’s a bit of a walk to get into town (15-20 minutes), we discovered a lovely walking trail that dropped us off near the Boboli Gardens. We do recommend taking a taxi back after dark, as the trail is quite steep. Overall, this property is amazing and holds a special place in our hearts, especially since we did our first look here before the wedding. We highly recommend Bellosguardo for its gorgeous views and as a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. We will be back!

I cannot say enough about this hotel and how wonderful it is. My only negative is that I didn't book this hotel the other 2 visits to Florence because it's so good. It's quaint, feels very Italian authentic and has the absolute best views of the city (from your room!). Our room was HUGE and we felt like we had full run of the entire gorgeous property -- the staff was friendly, everything was great. It is about a 15-min taxi ride into town, but during the nicer months (it rained during our stay) you can easily walk into town in about 10 minutes -- wish we could have done that as it looked like a beautiful walk!

The views are stunning at the top of the hill. It was very laid back and quiet. We really enjoyed the large room we were in. It’s a beautiful property- and I’m sure the pool is great when it’s open for the summer! The staff was very friendly. We kind of felt like we had the whole place to ourselves, which is nice to come back to after long days spent walking around Florence. We loved it!!!

This beautiful hotel e most beautiful hotel has gardens and views that take your breath away. This is the closest to living in Florentine Palazzo! I loved the great airy rooms with painted ceilings, the scent of lemon blossom drifting out of the orangery, the excellent coffee and hot milk for breakfast. Lovely staff, but not ideal for small children because of the terraced gardens and pool. Taxis come within 5 minutes, and it's 10-15 mins to the Ponte Vecchio - but on busy evenings, it can be hard to find a taxi to take you back. Breakfast is provided, but no other meals - though there is a takewawy service from Ruggiero's, an excellent restuarant in town.

Be ready for incredibly narrow two way roads to get here via Google Maps , but once here, you will fall in love with the place and its peaceful serenity. The views are spectacular - much better than the crazy expensive villas in Fiesole. MUCH! You can see all of Florence from here and enjoy the gorgeous pool and pool bar and gardens. You will also enjoy the many cats on the property that meow softly and our kids loved to pet! It is so close to Florence historic center but feels like another world - away from the hustle and bustle of the city. We were so glad we stayed here! The only reason for 4 stars is the bathroom in our room was less than ideal for showering - barely any water pressure and a really odd and impractical setup. Since the building is from the 13th century, no surprises there but just good to know. Our kids “showered” at the hotel outdoor pool shower instead with their suits on! Also- the building is beautiful and so historic - so many beautiful rooms and the garden is spectacular- but it’s incredibly understaffed and almost felt deserted as they didn’t turn lights on in many rooms and it didn’t create an inviting atmosphere to linger anywhere on the property. It’s a shame as , if they would just turn the lights on and staff the bar and pool area better, with a little more maintenance, this would be a super luxury property! Also - there is no restaurant or shop - we arrived late and were worried about dinner , but they immediately shipped us off to a terrific local restaurant down the hill. We loved our stay there so no complaints but just want people to be aware of its unique character. That’s why it costs 1/4 of Villa San Michele or Villa Cora or Il Salviatone. 😁 It’s an amazing find and a beautiful place to stay! The staff was very warm and booked incredible restaurants for us - Trattoria Pandemonio was top notch for the Florentine Steak. Trattoria Mama Gia near the Ponte Vecchio was also terrific ( but no A/C!) . Thank you Bellosguardo for a beautiful stay! ❤️
