Poomaz Peace Palace - Ella

Just off the main bar and restaurant street, is this simple home stay. It's quiet at night and a good place to relax and get some sleep as you pass through Ella. It is at the top of a very steep hill.

Got the suite with four beds, very spacious and in a good location away from the loud music but close enough to walk to all the restaurants and bars.

This stellar reputation is a reflection of the owner’s dedication and commitment to his guests. From the moment we booked until the time we checked out, the experience was seamless. The owner was extremely prompt in his responses and provided detailed information about Ella, the weather, and local recommendations, ensuring we were well-prepared for our stay. The room itself was thoughtfully equipped with all the necessary amenities. It included a kettle, tea and coffee, a small refrigerator, and a comfortable bed. While fans were provided, Ella’s naturally cool climate meant we didn’t need them much. The bathroom was spacious and offered both hot and cold water, adding to the comfort of our stay. What really sets this place apart is its location. Just a 3-4 minute walk, and you’ll find yourself on Ella’s most happening street, surrounded by vibrant restaurants and cafes. Cafe Chill, one of the most popular spots, is only a 5-minute walk away, and several supermarkets are nearby, making it convenient to stock up on essentials. The little touches also stood out, like the two complimentary water bottles provided during our stay. Breakfast was delicious, and our request for vegetarian options was gladly accommodated. It was clear that the team goes the extra mile to make guests feel comfortable. One thing to keep in mind is their currency conversion policy—they convert USD to LKR at the bank’s buying rate, which is just 3-4 LKR higher than the exchange rate. This transparency was appreciated, as there were no surprises during checkout. Overall, our stay at Poomaz Peace Palace was fantastic, and we’d highly recommend it to anyone visiting Ella. The perfect mix of great hospitality, a prime location, and comfortable accommodations made this an experience to remember!

Wonderful place to stay with friendly and attentive staff, located only a few minutes walk to the Main Street (although a steep 50 metre climb) Room nice size along with the bathroom, rooms lead onto a balcony and your breakfast is served out there. Wi Fi good and fast, for me the perfect place to stay and would happily book there again.

We spent two nights here and we were comfortable even though the room was basic. Breakfast on the balcony was lovely - great food and lovely view. There’s a short, steep climb back home after going down to the main street, so you will give your calves a good stretch, but it’s worth it for the view of Little Adam’s Peak that you get in the morning. Overall a very good choice of accommodation in a small, quiet and friendly guesthouse.

First things first, the hotel is in a great location. A 2 minute walk away from the main street, a 10 minute (perhaps less) to the train station and a short distance from the key hikes. The hotel room is simply decorated and perhaps a little rough around the edges. But it's clean, quiet and charming. I had a room with two single beds, but it was easy enough to push them together. The host is really helpful and friendly, and breakfast was great!
