"Excellent hotel with a beautiful view. Very friendly staff. Great breakfasts and dinners. I recommend this hotel. The room is spacious. The beds are comfortable. In the morning at sunrise, there are beautiful views of the mountains. By the pool, there's a mini-bar where you can order beer, snacks, cocktails – everything you need. We loved everything. It's close to the city center where all the cafes and restaurants are, and not far from the Nine Arch Bridge. Choose this hotel, you won't regret it."

"We had a wonderful stay at Greenland Villa. It is perfectly located right next to the Kithal Ella train station, from which you can directly board the famous train that goes through the nine arch bridge. The property was beautiful, very well equipped with everything we needed including a great kitchen. It was clean, well ventilated, and more importantly it felt like home. The owner took time to decorate it with great taste. On top of that he was such a humble and polite person.Upon arrival he gave us a ride to get our groceries; another day he brought us his homegrown vegetables, which was such a nice gesture. Having said that, there were a couple of issues that needed to be addressed. The WiFi connection was not great, probably because of the location, but we struggled with it. And the breakfast was very carb-heavy, which may work for you but wasn't particularly to our liking. Nonetheless, We would book it again if I ever come back to Ella. We can only recommend Greenland villa highly."
Bridge Front Inn Ella ★★★
"The location was absolutely stunning in the heart of the jungle but only a short walk to the nine arch bridge (you can even see the train passing through the trees during the day). The bird song and jungle noise was so peaceful, the rooms were clean, quality bedding and well thought out little touches in terms of toiletries (even some books on the shelf). The breakfast was delicious and so much food! But most importantly to note Yugesh was fantastic at attending to our needs whether that be to organise our laundry to be sent out and cleaned, making sure we had everything we needed for breakfast or coming with us on the walk to the bridge to get the best spots to film the train crossing, pictures etc. He was very kind, professional and thoughtful, he really made our trip. Another person to note was Nimal, the TukTuk driver who helped us easily get about. Free shuttle to Ella town from the hotel which is great! Anything else at an extra cost. Highly recommend this unique stay."

"The hotel is in a good location, beautiful views of the mountains. The only thing is a very steep descent to it. The room is clean and well-kept, but the same cannot be said about the bath, there is mold. We also had breakfast in the company of monkeys, who stole food from us. Breakfast is poor."

"This hotel is basic. No duvet in the room, apparently you have to request one. Nice welcome tea and some local snacks while waiting to check in but beware there are still mosquitoes around despite the cooler temperature. I got bitten twice whilst waiting to check in. I was put on the ground floor with a view of the car park which was disappointing given the incredible views on offer of Ella from the rooms higher up. They have a swimming pool from what I can tell is a bit cold! The omelette at breakfast was good and they found me some green tea when I asked for it. The buffet at dinner was ok and included slices of pizza. Staff were friendly and helpful. All in all I imagine this hotel offers great views but it is way too far out from the centre of Ella so if you plan to go into town in the evening you’re looking at paying around 5,000 rupees for a taxi to take you, wait there for you and bring you back. So unless you’re there for a specific reason I’d stay closer to all the shops and bars in town."

"Stay away from this hotel! The hotel rooms isn’t what’s pictured on booking sites, the entrance is through a forest on a mountain and through other buildings. The walls is stained, door is leaking, and the room are nasty. The entrance pathway crumbled under me so a nail went through my foot and got several scratches. It is NOT a hotel, not even a bungalow. I would rather sleep with the homeless dogs than stay there one night. We checked out 30 minutes after we checked in. At least the manager was nice enough to give a full refund and drive us to another hotel."

"It's true that this guesthouse is a bit out of town (a small road). But what peace and quiet, and what authenticity! I really appreciated the warm welcome from this dedicated gentleman. And what a pleasure it was to wake up and discover this place nestled in the heart of the forest. My best breakfast of my entire stay in Sri Lanka, with a view of the mountains and lush vegetation. The room, with its original decor ;-) is very clean and offers all the essential amenities (great Wi-Fi, hairdryer, blankets—essential in this cool mountain spot...). But above all, it's authentic, and the gentleman is lovely and incredibly attentive. He truly deserves to work more. I will definitely return. It's a welcome change from hotels!"

"We had a confirmed booking at “Tea Garden Holiday Inn” in Ella, but on arrival at 7 PM om 20th April, (after informing them in advance), the host /manager refused check-in, saying it’s “not suitable for elderly people.” This was never mentioned during booking, despite us having elderly family members and an infant. We were left stranded at night after a long journey. The host also misled us to another property claiming it was theirs, which turned out to be false and more expensive. Very unprofessional and irresponsible. I would not recommend this place."

"This hotel is worth staying for the stunning mountain views alone. Otherwise, the rooms are a bit dirty, especially the bathroom, with lots of dead insects on the curtains. The bathroom lacks even basic amenities (soap dish, glass for toothbrushes, etc.). There were mosquitoes in the room upon check-in. The staff didn't seem particularly concerned."

"We arrived to celebrate my Dad’s Birthday on 26/07/26. The Birthday welcome was excellent. Our two days at UGA GHIRI felt like gentle escape into a peaceful dream. It was a perfect staycation for a relaxed getaway. It’s a very well maintained cozy Hotel surrounded by the hills beauty and excellent breathing of Ella. Every moment was filled with a friendly smile, calm, warmth and joy. It wasn’t just a stay - it is a feeling we will carry in our hearts for a very long time. Leaving this place was truly the hardest part. We are especially grateful to the whole staff, their team effort, their wonderful care with the welcoming friendly smiles, delicious healthy meals made our stay even more special. "This place is beautiful. Right in the Ella jungle, with an incredible view. The room was beautiful - new, spacious and well equipped with everythng you'd need. It is literally a four minute walk from the Nine Arches Bridge. Getting into and out of town was easy - they offer a free tuk tuk service. The breakfast was very generous indeed and you will not go shy of fresh fruit! The two guys looking after the place were amazing - so kind and attentive; they will look after you. Solid recommend."

However, due to the surrounding chaotic development, the roads are narrow and steep, so driving there is thrilling ㅜㅜ.. Since it is still under construction, only the first floor and some facilities are open, and ingredients are not yet fully prepared.. The staff try to be friendly, but charging that price in the current state is excessive."

They helped us to get Tuktuk (very nice driver) so that we could hike in the mountains. Would absolutely recommend to go there instead of Ella city center (which is much more touristy and busy) if you want to enjoy a chic and resting stay!"
