Attended a business meeting over several days in Dresden. Hotel was chosen by host, and it was excellent! Beautiful grounds to explore along the River Elbe. The restaurant had a limited menu, but the food was wonderful. Room rate included breakfast, and it was quite extensive, very elegant. No coffee machine in the room, but there was one centrally located at the entrance to the building with the hotel rooms. Room did have a small refrigerator. Room was clean and rather basic. Good location for business meetings.

Schloss Eckberg is a true Fairy tale castle hotel....but you don't need the budget of a King to stay here! Though coincidentally, I was first introduced to Schloss Eckberg by the Saxon Royal family of the region. The grounds are lush and magical, take a walk in their private forest, and the included breakfast buffet is sumptuous! You can stay in the castle or the Cavalier house, which is my preference, to get one of the top floor "maisonette" rooms, which has a sleeping loft. Also, parking is free. The grounds and view of the Elbe river are enchanting. I filmed two music videos here! "Beneath the Mirabella" and "The Dragon" . I come back often as possible!!!

2 years ago I wrote a great review on this hotel, and that's why I came back. This time my experience was the complete opposite and a complete disappointment. The front desk is so unfriendly. They made me feel very unwelcomed and when I asked for a tea kettle it was like an experience like none other. I made a dinner reservation and when I arrived they told me the restaurant was closed. The property itself is still beautiful, but I could never recommend anyone staying here. The restaurant in the castle next door is excellent and is a much better choice than dining here.

As can be seen from the pictures this is a fabulous building set in wonderful grounds with trees, woodland, gardens and a fountain. The building is set high above the river. It is set some 8 miles [I guess] from the centre of Dresden and if not travelling by car there is a Tram Line [number 11] which runs speedily and every few minutes. I got a good deal with a room in the annexe which is in a modern building nearby. The room was perfectly adequate with a good bathroom and excellent shower. Others mention the lack of coffee and "mint on the pillow"] but these are not common in Germany anyway! My problem was that - as highlighted by others - the restaurant t was closed on a Sunday evening as were all the other facilities such as the wine cellar so that I could not even get a drink. There is another similar establishment just down the road but that too was not open for food and the staff could not tell where food [Sunday evening about 730pm] was available. In many ways I was perhaps fortunate as to cost as the restaurant menu was on the higher cost. Breakfast was fresh [and extra] and the scrambled egg was the best I have eaten The bed was comfortable but - as common with Germany - is two singles pushed together. Room was spotlessly clean

After a long drive from Berlin, stopping at Colditz Castle en route, we arrived at the hotel to be disappointed. We were looking forward to a cool drink but we’re told the hotel did not have sufficient staff to open the bar. Even worse was to come. We had not made a table reservation and so would be unable to eat there also. Thinking on our feet we tried to make a reservation for the following evening. That was also closed to us because the hotel was catering a wedding. We accept no reservations we’re made, as guests we normally find that unnecessary. If those are the hotels rules then they should be made clear at the time of booking or at least in a timely manner before the visit. Our rooms were fine. Situated in a separate block to the main house they were very clean and comfortable although not large. The hotel is situated in extensive grounds which, unfortunately, have not been maintained during recent months so features are lost in the long grass and undergrowth. Parking is ad hoc and so may not be near your room. Altogether a disappointing stay from our perspective.

This hotel would be a 1-star in the USA. No coffee, tea, or even water kettle in room. Neither charger worked on the sides of the bed. Five euro charge for room key. Naked men and their naked daughters monopolizing the wellness area (Go to jail in most countries for that). Need to get off elevator and climb stairs to get to wellness center. The Jacuzzi was yellow as urine. Needed to lift luggage up and down stairs that are in the hallway for no reason. Construction all around the hotel. Save your vacation by staying somewhere else.

... die Lage mit Blick auf den Fluss, Dresden und in einer schönen Gartenanlage gelegen ist das Hotel eine Empfehlung. In dieser Atmosphäre lassen sich entspannt Zeit verbringen mit aufmerksamem Service. Das Zimmer war sauber, gut Ausgestattet und lädt zum Verweilen ein. Das Badezimmer ist mit allen wichtigen Dingen ausgestattet, es gibt einen Tresor und gefüllte Minibar. Das Wlan ist sehr stabil und die kostenlosen Parkplätze sind praktisch. Das Frühstück hat zwar seinen Preis, bietet aber eine große Vielfalt.
