Hotel Benaco

By any rating this hotel would be good, for a 3 star it’s unheard of. The pool is beautiful and cleaned with a pool vac every night. It’s unheated so super refreshing if you can brave it! The breakfast has obviously improved massively since the last review on here- great bacon and eggs, healthy options, fresh fruit, cereals, quality coffee. Staff were lovely, rooms were wonderful, location perfect.

Lovely family run hotel - booked a room with an balcony. Big room with a lake view - very close to station - lovely pool and garden - nice staff and cute hotel cat My only comment is: no fresh fruit at breakfast. Only fruit on syrups. I missed some healthier breakfast options. I would stay again

If could give a 0 rating I would. Manager is the most ignorant person I've ever dealt with in all my years of travelling around the world. When our family room was given to someone else and they gave us different room which had bunk beds which was for a 69yr old lady he would not entertain our complaint. I had to ring bookings as he became verbally and personally abusive even following us onto the street after we had paid the 1 night to insult us. He's should be ashamed to call himself a hotel owner. AVOID!!!!!!

We are travelling through Europe heading to Greece. And booked this hotel last minute on ***********. What an amazing place, we paid £92 for 1 night with breakfast included. The breakfast is something else, beyond delicious and so much choice. Hotel rooms 5* for cleanliness, shower perfect temperature and water pressure. Beds are two singles pushed together but this didn’t bother us. We walked into the old town (10 minutes stroll) you must go and see the stunning architecture and views. In town we ate delicious food and even more delicious wine, so getting into bed we didn’t even notice the two singles, we were fast on. Honestly this is one of the best overnight stays I have visited. Staff on arrival were so friendly and welcoming. Nothing bad at all to say about this place.

This is a lovely, small and friendly hotel very close to the train station in Desenzano. The walk down to the lake takes about 10 minutes, back up the hill a little longer! You don't need to be super fit for the hike back up but anyone with limited mobility could struggle. Our room was comfortable with a view to the lake. The pool is great but chilly with one corner set as a jacuzzi. Breakfast was OK although repetitive but sufficient to start your day well. The staff are fabulous with special mention to Laura and Veronica on reception who were very helpful throughout including advice on where to buy essentials when our luggage didn't make it to Italy with us. Desenzano town is really pretty with a great atmosphere, there's plenty of bars and restaurants to visit. The train from Milan took about an hour but there are quicker ones. Verona is closer and a good option to fly to if going to Desenzano. We took the train to Peschiera which is smaller than Desenzano and really worth a visit. The ferry to Sirmione is really cheap but I'd advise going early as it got busy nearer lunchtime.

The Benaco Hotel is situated a very short walk from the train station. We had taken the train from Verona which only took about 20 minutes and cost about 5 euro each! The Benaco is a small hotel with a lot of charm. It has a beautiful pool to the front of the building with ample sun beds surrounding it. The hotel is lovely inside, we were on the 3rd floor and though the shower is quite small, the room was clean and sufficiently spacious. We stayed only for 2 nights. Breakfast was very good, you could make your own pancakes and I had warm, perfectly cooked scrambled eggs each morning. They have a coffee machine which served a great cup of coffee, the usual european buffet and a fine array of pastries. Service was very good too. Reception were very helpful, keeping our bags for us when we arrived early and departed late. Desenzano is a beautiful little town on Lake Garda and it is about a 10 minute walk from the hotel downhill. But it is a lovely walk. Plenty of bars and restaurants and a ferry to Sirmione if you fancy it. We were there during the Airshow in September and that was a great mornings entertainment. The Benaco is definitely to be recommended.

A nice hotel with a great location just a short walk from the train station and Desenzano town. The staff were friendly and helpful & the breakfast had some nice options. One thing to note, our room was right above the breakfast dining area and we could overhear the morning staff preparing from very early on. This woke us up a few times, so for a future stay I would definitely ask to stay at another side of the building! As well, on one day our towels also had an odd smell to them, like they’d been hung up to dry next to a fryer! Our room also had an unusual smell on the first day or so too - this may have been because it was close to the kitchen & bins outside! Overall, a good place, but I think for the room we were in was a little overpriced given some of the issues we experienced.

I can highly recommend this hotel - wonderful helpful staff, comfy rooms, good breakfast (but they don’t do evening meals) and just 5 minutes walk from the lake. On site car parking too. Good swimming pool. We really enjoyed our two stays there.

First of all I never leave reviews but I must say our stay in this thotel exceeded our expectations for a 3 star. All staff very helpful in assisting us to plan our short stay and make the most of the lake. The hotel is only 5 minutes walk from the train station which make it easily accessible, a trip by ferry to Sirmione is a must. The old town and lake are about 10 minutes walk. The hotel has a small bar which was reasonably priced. My only point about the bar was that everything was served in a plastic glass. I know this is essential for poolside but not sat in the hotel! We ate at excellent restaurants recommended by the hotel. Breakfast was good but i would have preferred fresh fruit and there was only tinned available. The pool was lovely and pool towels available from reception. The room was large and had a side view of the lake and very clean, however no tea and coffeee making facilities. This hotel is situated back from a busy road so whilst sitting round the pool you will hear road noise but not in the rooms. Overall a great small hotel with presonal service which I would definitely recommend.
