This weekend, I had the pleasure of staying at the Great Palace Hotel in Datong, and I must say it was an incredible experience from the moment we arrived. The staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming, checking us in quickly and even upgrading us to the best available room. To our surprise, we were greeted with a thoughtful welcome that included a fresh fruit basket, traditional Chinese soup, and complimentary tea. The hotel offers an impressive breakfast selection, catering to both local and international tastes. The rooms are spacious, spotlessly clean, and the beds are incredibly comfortable—making it easy to unwind after a day of sightseeing. This was my second time staying at the Great Palace Hotel, and once again, it exceeded expectations. Its location is ideal—right in the heart of the city, close to all major tourist attractions and just a few kilometers from the train station. Special thanks to Manager 崔经理, who was exceptionally kind and helpful throughout our stay. I would wholeheartedly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Datong. What truly sets this hotel apart is the attention to detail and the genuine hospitality of the staff. Whether you’re a first-time visitor or returning guest, the service remains consistently high. The atmosphere strikes the perfect balance between traditional charm and modern comfort, making it a reliable choice for both leisure and business travelers. From check-in to check-out, every aspect of our stay was smooth, relaxing, and enjoyable.

It was a very pleasant stay in the hotel. I stayed for three days and I enjoyed the comfortable and spacious room with its soft floor, the adjustable illumination and the goodies which I received daily as well as the breakfast buffet, which included a variety of Chinese food, salad, fruits, toast, cornflakes, little cakes and freshly made noodle soup.

Rooms have some smell. Bed is not very good and old.

Terrible service provided. The hotel charged us 400 RMB deposit but didn't refund us after check-out. The customer service is really difficult to reach and one staff refused to communicate with us although the hotel still owes us the deposit...

The service was very good and the staff were very friendly and helpful despite the language barrier. There isn’t very much around the area but the stay was comfortable. The bed could be more comfortable and offer better refreshments in the room. Overall it was a pleasant stay.

Although our stay was only one night, the experience was very satisfying. The room is very nice and equipped with everything we needed (toothbrush, soap, shower and bedroom slippers), and the staff was always very friendly.

Great value for money. Gave loz of goodies as welcome gifts. Even helped my girl lineup all her dolls on her bed. Must try the Chinese restaurant at level 7...Peking duck and lamb soup very good

It was perfect.

Nice breakfast and good location, easily accesible from the city center and the station. Hotel and rooms look luxurious and the front desk staff is very helpful and attentive. Nice breakfast with a lot of options, both Western and Chinese. Definitely a place to come back!

I loved this hotel. It has an old-fashioned charm that made me feel right at home. My room was very large, comfortable, and well-equipped. All of the staff and service people were extremely courteous from start to finish. The Chinese restaurant on the 7th floor has a great choice of dishes! Highly recommended, and excellent value for money. A great base for exploring the sights around Datong.

Nice hotel with spacious room and comfortable beds. The people working there are friendly. The location is excellent M. Da Tong is a very interesting place to visit. Highly recommend!
