AAnonymous UserI stayed at this B&B during my trip to Datong. Here are my thoughts:
1. The B&B isn't large, and not crowded, but the service was excellent. Feedback was prompt and responsive, surpassing even the service of a star-rated hotel.
2. The B&B's amenities are excellent. Since it only opened in May or June of this year, the rooms are brand new, and some of the details are spot-on, like the Dyson hair dryer and L'Occitane toiletries—all really appreciated.
3. The breakfast options are limited; there are two restaurants adjacent to the B&B, and meals cost under 15 RMB per person. 4. The B&B is located in the heart of Datong Ancient City, making it very convenient to any of the attractions. It's about a 10-minute walk away, which is very convenient and saves you the time of taking a taxi. However, because it's located in the ancient city, eating out is not so convenient. Every famous restaurant in the ancient city has a long line because it's packed with tourists, and those restaurants don't offer takeout, which is very inconvenient. To save time and avoid waiting in line, we always take a taxi to eat at the restaurants near Mingtang. Almost all the restaurants in the ancient city are located there, and there are no lines. However, taxis cost more than ten yuan, and the money we saved by visiting the attractions in the ancient city was spent on eating out every time we went out.
5. Overall, this B&B is very good, but some details need improvement. First, there is no place to hang clothes in the room (besides the wardrobe), so there is no place to wash small items or hang towels. This needs improvement. Second, the room's nightlight was strange. After turning off the lights, it would inexplicably come on by itself. Even if I turned over or made the slightest noise, the bathroom and bedside lights would come on countless times throughout the night, and I couldn't turn them off. Third, the room's overall cleanliness was acceptable, but the bedside cabinets and drawers were covered in dust, as was the refrigerator cabinet. Furthermore, the refrigerator, while small, was very noisy, making it very noisy during sleep. Fourth, the central air conditioning had three small green lights that would glow brightly after turning off the lights at night. They also wouldn't turn off. I eventually asked the staff to block the light with a piece of cardboard, but I think this kind of attention to detail was lacking. Fifth, the electric curtains. In my room, only the screens opened and closed automatically; the curtains wouldn't open and could only be opened slightly manually. Finally, I stayed in Room 7, and the window overlooked the family housing building. Downstairs, there was a pile of garbage that no one collected. Every day, I opened the window and saw the garbage. The garbage view also made the room a very unpleasant experience. The room smelled bad when the window was closed, and the outside smelled bad when the window was open. 6. Overall, this accommodation experience was very good. The hotel also provided round-trip pick-up service, which I like. Regarding the price/performance ratio, I personally think that this price is very high for a small fourth-tier city like Datong. Although some services are added, the overall price/performance ratio is average. Next time I go to Datong, I probably won't stay in the ancient city.
