Cochrane Place Hotel

Cochrane Place is a cozy little Hotel on the road leading to Darjeeling. It's a decent option for a transit stay or at best 2 nites. Their is nothing much to do here as the Hotel needs upgradation & renovation urgently. This Hotel is old world charm which has seen good times decades ago. Food in their only restaurant attached with a terrace is more than decent. Variety is limited though. Staffs are kind & warm. Prity & Mamta at the reception are helpful & proactive. My special thanks to Prity for her hospitality & professionalism. Ravindra (GM) is an experienced guy who understands how to run a Hotel. He is a solution provider & accommodating guy.

The hotel had great amenities. Location was peaceful and the staff were very friendly. Mitu mainly served us on our stay and he was very sweet. Rooms were cozy. Sharing taxis might take a little time to find and walking to the bazaar is not a good idea. But overall great

My family and I visited CP for two days more than a decade ago, but we often fondly reminisced our time there. I lost my dad last month and could think of no better place than CP to help us take our fledging steps towards healing and a future without him. The familiar colonial structure warmed our hearts. We checked in precisely a month after my dad’s passing, and coincidentally into one of the same rooms which we had booked thirteen years ago! Thus, “Talung” ushered us not only to the onset of a desired sojourn but also to the dawn of a pivotal healing journey. Apart from the new decor of the restaurant, everything was the same and as quaint and enchanting as ever. With Mr. Kang at the helm of things once again, hospitality was nothing short of avant garde. As we savoured our shepherd’s pie and thukpa (The Brit delicacy for my mum and brother; the humble comfort food for me) with glasses of red wine, the al fresco dining experience under the murky sky was one of the best ways to relive the past and recreate new memories. We took a walk after dinner and for the first time, Kurseong felt like home to me. Who knew nostalgia would turn out to be such a powerful healer! We bid adieu to CP the next morning and before leaving, Mr. Kang said to me, “Remember Prerna, life goes on”. Yes, life goes on and CP took us down those tender memory lanes where we could rekindle the wonderful past that once was, make peace with the present that is now, and look forward to what is to come. Thank you CP, and thank you, Mr. Kang. Onwards and upwards, always!

I have traveled quite a bit across quite a few countries, but if there is one place that I visit again and again primarily for the hotel, it is Kurseong to stay in Cochrane Place. The GM, Mr. Rabindra Kang is more of a friend and under his leadership, the hotel staff make you feel at home. The property itself is not just absolutely beautiful but also thoughtfully designed (e.g. its wheelchair friendly) and a stay there is a perfect mix of efficient service and homely ambience. Can't wait to revisit.

We visited Kurseong earlier this month, and stayed at Cochrane Place. This was our second visit to Cochrane Place, and we had a great time. The hospitality extended by the staff of the hotel is worth a mention. 'Chai Country' is the restaurant and tea salon at Cochrane Place which serves delicious food. The Manager of 'Chai Country', Mr Suraj, and his team are efficient and courteous, and go out of their way to make the diners comfortable. We are already looking forward to our next visit to Cochrane Place.

During our stay at the hotel the staf took very good care of our needs and requirements and the manger Mr Ravindra was absolutely excellent with his hospitality and his overall care given for little little requirements.
