"We stayed at the Eden Grand Hotel for two days and absolutely loved it. Although it can be a little tricky to find, the hotel is beautifully located at the edge of the forest, where monkeys leap from tree to tree. The rooms are cozy and well-designed, with a spacious, comfortable bed, modern bathroom and an AC. The service was exceptional. Breakfast is freshly prepared just for you, and the food was fantastic. The hotel also offers its own tuktuk driver, making it easy to visit nearby attractions like Sigiriya Rock. All in all, the Eden Grand Hotel is a charming and peaceful retreat and the Service will try its best to make your stay memorable."

(Note: The hotel was also fully booked that night, so I couldn't pay for a room on the spot.)"

"If I'd looked at the map and gone, I'd have had a hard time finding it. Even if it's close, I think taking a tuk-tuk is a good option. For the Sigiriya sunrise, it's relatively close to the city center, but not too far away, so it's in a great location. Lucky at the reception is friendly, humorous, and helpful. However, the tuk-tuk driver who called me didn't speak any English, which was a bit surprising. The room was minimalistic, and the green balcony view was soothing. The air conditioning made it cold, so I asked for hot water, and they brought me a liter of it in a bottle. I made some barley tea and drank it, which helped me kick my cold."

"We booked this hotel having read the reviews and website. Before I continue I want to say that we are frequent travellers and mainly stay where possible in 4/5* hotels. Unfortunately apart from the service from the Manager, Nishandra for the first 2 out of 4 days of our stay, and that of a young 18 yr old waiter, Rasanjana, they were 5*. The manager had to leave and left the chef in charge. This is when the staff, apart from Rasanjana seemed to not pay any attention to us. We were the only guests at this time. There is no phone in the room so you have to go hunting to find anyone to assist. The front reception is not always manned, on one occasion when we asked where the girl was we were told she's sleeping and the chef come assistant manager was also not available. The rooms are big and spacious and they will cook different things for you but that's the only positive. Our tap in the bathroom was falling away from the sink. The attention to detail was also not there. The state of the whole hotel is in need of a desperate uplift as it was dirty. The photos and description are misleading. I am sure if the manager had not had to leave for a few days, all the staff would have been 5* in his presence. This review is harsh but honest. It is only for those frequent travellers who are used to a 4/5* service."

"This is a very nice hotel that is light and airy, and gives you a sense of being in the country. The staff are wonderful and make the experience what it is. Breakfast and dinner are very good, although it would be great to see more variation. Dambulla town has quite limited food options, so hotels like this are often the only choice for guests. The location is good - near to Dambulla, Sigiriya and only 1.5 hours from Anuradhapura. It would be nice to go for walks near to the hotel including to the lake. It is possible but there are guard dogs for the homes on the path to the hotel which makes for a less than relaxing walk. Overall, an excellent hotel"

"We stayed one night here. Very friendly and nice staff. Mr. Bandara and his team welcomed us warmly. A lovely and quiet place and beautiful garden. We were served with very good breakfast, bread, butter , jam, sausages, omelette, coffee or tea, fruits, juice and 2 local dishes ( sambol and Dal curry with rice). We would like to say thank you. There is coffee , tea and kettle in the room and a bottle of water too."

The owners are hands on, welcoming visitors and ensuring your stay is memorable. The pool is very private, surrounded by trees and gardens. The room was comfortable with two balconies. "This hotel is really beyond our expectations. It was dark when we arrived. The hotel staff greeted us at the door. Everyone was smiling and the service was very good. The hotel is surrounded by forests and has an excellent original environment. The rooms are very large and the hygiene is also very good. Breakfast and dinner are also delicious with different choices. When we woke up in the morning, we could hear the peacocks calling and we saw cute monkeys. I highly recommend this hotel!!!"

"I had a two night stay at Sinhagiri Villa and really enjoyed it. It’s a smallish, family run boutique hotel. You’ll enjoy home cooked meals and a very warm welcome while you’re there. While the rooms may be basic they are very clean and well maintained. It is convenient to local historic sites as well as other points of interest. We climbed Pidurangala Rock one morning and the hosts arranged a predawn tuk tuk driver for us. If you’re looking for an enjoyable stay as you explore Sri Lanka you won’t go wrong here. One note, my friend and I were self driving and had just clicked on the hotel on Google Maps to get navigation. The pin must be placed in the wrong location because we were routed about 20 minutes out of the way. When we entered the physical address found on the internet into the navigation it took us directly to Sinhagiri Villa. There is a great little lunch spot that is about a 1Km walk from the Villa, McCafe, check it out while you’re there, you’ll love it!"

"The location is fantastic, allowing you to truly immerse yourself in nature. However, it seems to be an area less frequented by tourists, as I was barked at and even chased by stray dogs when going out and returning from meals. While I don't know if they'd bite, it was quite frightening. Since it's a tourist-oriented area, nearby restaurants charge around 2000 rupees per meal."
