Hotels near University of Cologne, Cologne

A rather basic hotel, but worthy of its price. The hotel is suitable for people with a limited budget but who want to live here for a long time. In addition to ordinary hotel rooms, there are also public living rooms and public bathrooms (that is, there are also rooms without bathrooms). The overall feel is more like a student dormitory. The room was very cold when I arrived. I searched for a long time before I realized that the heating was not turned on. So my impression of this hotel is cold and bleak, and I guess I won't go there again in the future. But it would be unfair to say that this hotel has nothing good to offer.

Kind receptionists who offered a lot of help, very nice breakfast buffet, convenient and cozy street neighborhoods with nice restaurants and cafe:)

Hygien, room, bed, quietness everything was great except that I got this problem with the receptionists. So I did explain to all the receptionist (that I saw-because I understand they work in shifts) that I lost 2 luggages due to the airline's mistake and airline will send them to this hostel where I would be staying (for 1 night only). I explained that if someone sent luggages here, please tell me asap because I needed to catch a train to Amsterdam the nextday noon. Imagine 35kg of personal belongs just dissapeared, I didnt have toothbrush, clean clothings.... I reminded them everything 3-4 hours when I saw a receptionist. After almost 27 hours of waiting in worry (which made me cannot enjoy the city), I talked to one receptionist to please check 1 more time becauze the airlines mailed me that they did send to the hostel at 4:30pm in the day I checked-in hostel, (only 4-5 hours after my flight time), she let me go it the luggage room and my luggages were there the whole time! So I waited in pain for 22 hours for nothing. I think it would be a bit obvious when 1 guy in delivery company uniform went in with 2 luggages and said ”this is from one of your customer.” But the receptionist just forgot it quickly and didnt tell me. I had to change a lot of my plan and I was feeling terible and stressful with the waiting and fear of lost luggages. Beside that, the condition of rooms, facilities, warm water, sound proof windows were great.

I'm a Steigenberger fan. And this was my third stay at the Köln hotel. This year, it was clear quality of services and amenities dropped, from the collapse of the computer system right at the start of Gamescom, to long waits to speak with staff. The hotel needs more seasoned hands on deck. Staff is helpful & friendly, but overworked. Not happy with the half glass wall that separates part of the shower from the rest of the bathroom. It's a poor design that leaves the bathroom floor wet. Get a proper sliding door in place or a shower curtain. The bottom of the bathroom door showed clear signs of water damage. Also, don't flag all your green initiatives when you offer non-recyclable metal pods for the Espresso machine. Breakfast was great, parking nearby, love the location and neighborhood. But the hotel felt shabbier and service slide was notable from a year ago.

The hotel was well cleaned. It's about a 10-minute walk from the nearest subway, but the Christmas market was there at the time, so it made for good sightseeing. The front desk staff were kind and spoke English and German. The minimum amenities were provided. The photo shows the Neumarkt during the Weihnachtsmarkt.

If you are planning to visit the city Center is not well located. The evening team (a lady) was really friendly and helpful. The morning team, a couple of gents were not, they seemed like they did not want to attend us.

The staff at the front desk was really nice and the facilities in the hotel room are of high quality. It is seriously the best hotel I've ever been in for Europe so far.

This Hotel is in the city center. It is very convenient and close to Koln Dom and train station. A lot of super markets and stores around as well as resturants. Fantastic experiences.

Simple hotel adjacent to main shopping area, 1 min walk from metro transport. 10 min walk from The Dome and Hauptbanhoff and the main tourist attractions. No frills, basic, simple, clean room, with basic toiletries provided, a lift available until 10pm (see notes) decent continental buffet breakfast, luggage storage available. Friendly helpful staff. Notes: Check in closes at 10pm, with no night staff so get there before 10pm, access after this time is by key card only and lift only available from 1st floor.. Hotel is on quiet streets and overlooking a square so some general noise from drinkers in the early evening and busy at lunchtime. Signage for hotel is minimal, it's a quirky building surrounded by private housing, so look out on the glass doors for the turquoise Centro logo, if you find the ”night entrance door” walk round the corner to get to the main entrance again only denoted by a discrete sign on the door. Bring a travel kettle and mug if you want a decent cup of tea, the breakfast hot water/coffee maker was broken during my visit! (And they're not provided in rooms). Room served me well for 3 nights. Great location for seeing Cologne.

The hotel is easily accessible from the airport: just take the train to the city center (the ticket costs €3.70, which can be purchased from the machines in the train station). In the same station, you can also buy tickets for buses and the subway. Once you arrive in the center, from the train station you can walk along the Rhine River for about 10 minutes or take the bus (I took bus 133 for two stops). The distance from the station to the hotel is about 800 meters. If the weather is nice, I recommend taking a walk along the Rhine, and in a few minutes you will arrive at the hotel. The hotel is very pleasant, the staff is friendly and the rooms are spacious and clean. My room, with a large glass balcony, overlooked the Rhine River. The breakfast is plentiful and varied, with options for both those who like savory and those who prefer sweet. I highly recommend this hotel and will gladly return.
