I hate to speak badly about places I go to but in this case it is necessary as there is a huge gap from what it looks like and what it is. Day 1. first red flag: the place is right behind a group of poor homeless literally living in tents on the street, entire families with kids sleeping all day on the floor, half naked amidst dirt. terrible smell. the bedsheets clearly hadn’t been changed from the previous guest: I uncovered them and I found some hair. the so-called hotel manager changed them for me but the room was totally full of dust (must say, however, the days have been very windy with all sorts of dust and garbage flying all over Cape Town). The bathroom was very poorly cleaned. Day 2. I ask for a hair dryer: I am told there is none in the hotel. I replied «please get one for me», reply: «all hair dryers are in their other hotel» (!). What it means I do not know, but no way you are getting paid this money with not a single hair dryer in the entire house, one a guest can borrow. Coming back from town at 3pm, the room hasn’t been cleaned even though I had left the «please clean up the room» label outside. I ask, I am told that I should have left the keys at reception since they have no doubles because of security. A pity that the room key comes with the safe key, so how could I possibly leave the room key with the safe key if what you care about is security? Anyway, if someone had told me, I would have left the keys, and nobody did. Clearly there is no cleaning unless you ask for. Wifi comes and goes. It is not a 4 star hotel, it is a 3 star. It could have been a graceful place, a pity so badly managed.
