The Brambles B&B

Small room which smelt musty which we hate. No views from our room. Shower room also smelt musty. Small breakfast room open to kitchen. Mine host a bit grumpy. On positives, very quiet area in countryside, and close to A10 for Cambridge. Plenty of parking.

I booked The Brambles after reading all the great reviews, and the room and bathroom were very pleasant and clean. Breakfast was good although by the second morning I was very concerned about gluten cross-contamination in the kitchen. I am a coeliac and required gluten free bread but the regular toaster was used and we watched the GF bread get sliced on the bread board just used for normal toast. We also saw my partner's toast get dropped on the floor of the kitchen, picked up and put back in the toast rack before being served. I was also very disappointed when the cleaner was trying to access my room to clean during the middle of my stay while I was getting ready for a wedding, and then was told by the proprietor Bob I should have left that morning at 10am, despite our booking also being for that night. During this, the door was opened into the room on two occasions while I was not fully dressed, despite both Bob and the cleaner being aware I was still in the room. We both felt very uncomfortable after that and were concerned about privacy. The Brambles was a convenient place to stay but I would not recommend it.

If you want to stay in a place nestled in the quiet of the countryside but a few minutes drive from the center of Cambridge, this B&B is really for you. The rooms are silent and comfortable, the breakfast really good, with many local products. A special mention for the courtesy and friendliness of the owner.
