Travelodge Cambridge Swavesey

There was an issue with my booking plus the receptionist was training someone so made me wait out side alone at 11.40pm in a horrible place. She was rude (the colleague she was training was pleasant and thoughtful) Passed my complaint through to customer services who are not interested.

Up to normal standards for Travelodge except for lack of dining facilities which would have improved our stay considerably.

Nice little hotel, hard to find though as at the back of a disused petrol station, although if you follow the signs for Herbies an American diner that shares the site with the hotel you will come into the car park. Rooms are spacious we had a family room £78 one double and two small put you ups, which was ample for our needs, Shower over the bath, clean and serviceable. All the team members were approachable and seemed genuinely happy and willing to help. Not a lot of road noise at night but could hear the lorries the next morning- not really a big deal as you would expect this from this location.

We stayed in a family room on the ground floor. The room was great, nice and big, one double bed, two single beds and an armchair and TV. It was a bit warm in there though and there is no aircon. They do however provide a fan. The double bed was nice and soft, the single beds were a bit hard though, but they were all reasonably comfortable. The pillows were very firm though, and all exactly the same, including the spares on top of the wardrobe. They could do with a bit of variety as I found them very difficult to sleep on. I ended up with a sore neck and ear, and eventually had to resort to pulling my quilt around and folding it over as a pillow. The hotel is also a bit difficult to find in the dark, it could do with some better and more reflective signage. We completely missed it on the first pass.

We stayed a few nights here- it's perfect for Duxford and National Trust properties - great country pubs in the area. And really pleasent staff. Ask to stay in the back - views over the countryside are amazingand no noise. This is on a busy road but we heard none of it!!
