Great holiday

A short stay for of 2 days was booked with Triip.com for one adult and 2 children under 10, to join us who were booked in a day earlier for three days. Our three day booking was direct with the hotel, half board. The hotel is marked 'adults recommended' and they sure discourage children, by seeking to charge per occupancy rather than simply on a cost per room. The Trip site quite fairly offered the room at the rate for two adults, with children under 12 free, so this is what was paid. Half board was added but at the rate for two adults, which would be greater than the actual hotel rate for one adult and two children, but I was happy to have reserved restaurant secured. Things got messy at check in, the hotel insisting that the room was occupied by three 'persons' as they put it and should therefore be 50% extra, though the room was the same type as the twin we had for two adults. The Hotel also insisted that only breakfast was provided, and tried to argue that the B2B rate from the third party (Trip) was insufficient. I politely pointed out that the discounts provided to third party agents was no concern of the customer, and referred to my booking voucher which clearly stated I had booked a twin room, into which was going 1 adult, two very small children, and that breakfast and dinner was paid for, with the rate for 1 adult being greater than twice the local charge for a child. They were impossible to deal with, and I left the reception angry and upset. I contacted the Trip representative and by that evening it was sorted. Full marks to Trip, zero to the hotel. As for our stay, the hotel is excellent, but with room to improve. Dinner in the Buffet only commences at 8.00, resulting in quite the bunfight if the restaurant is busy. It was on that Thursday, a national holiday, and it was impossible to order wine and beverages after we seated, with a single service person taking orders. We ate our food dry, and finally placed an order for wine and water while eating dessert, some 40 minutes after seating. The same bottleneck occurred the next morning at breakfast, with the four snail paced Nespresso machines totally incapable of dealing with the coffee demands. Worse, all 4 machines overheated and went into 'service mode'. Worse again, these obviously unsuitable barista machines were the only source of hot water for Tea or infusions, but with no seperate hot water dispenser faucet. You had to stand for almost 2 minutes while the machine slowly dispensed through the coffee outlet, a single mug of hot water, to the frustration of the queue behind. This needs sorting, it took ages to get a breakfast beverage every morning, and on the second day I had to return 4 floors to my room and fill my cup from the in room Nespresso maker. I'd advise to bring a travel kettle with you. Otherwise, a fine hotel, but the restaurant problems and discriminatory pricing for children are an issue, so not a hotel for children.

We stayed here for 3 days and just came back Friday. Hotel was clean and beds were comfy. Pool was cold but bearable - it’s October so I understand it’s not heated. Bar service was lovely - staff were friendly and couldn’t do enough for you. Rooftop infinity pool is incredible - charge of €20 per person per day. Which is worth it for a full day up there because the views are amazing. Can’t fault this place at all would return if I was coming to calella again!

Hotel is absolutely stunning inside and throughout. Real attention to detail. The rooms are very modern and bright: 10/10 for decor, convenience and comfort! Breakfast buffet had plenty to offer, staff at breakfast were also friendly and accommodating. Check in and check out were smooth and easy. All staff we came into contact with were friendly, warm and welcoming. A credit to there employer! The facilities within are stunning and well kept. Only issue we faced was ordering room service on there phone which displayed in Spanish, this was a challenge and took me and my parent an embarrassing amount of attempts. Access to roof top was pricey! €22 per person for one day access was rather steep. The roof top itself was gorgeous, with staff being attentive and infinite pool a great feature. However paying the €22 daily is simply not affordable. Would certainly recommend the hotel to others. Area somewhat lacking but expected as off season. No fault of Kaktus playa.

This hotel is amazing very modern rooms, electric blinds, his and hers sinks, huge comfy bed and coffee machine in the rooms with pods, fluffy white towels, rooms are cleaned every day. The food is next level! We were HB with the plan to eat out a few nights in local restaurants, but we just couldn’t bring ourselves to eat out and miss the food in the restaurant, we really have never experienced food like this, Leli at the front of house was lovely. The staff are so friendly, waiter service around the pool. The rooftop pool is a must for a very chilled day, also nice at night for drinks. Calella centre with shops, restaurants and bars is in the doorstep. The beach is a few minutes walk, can see if from the hotel. Lovely beach bars. A lovely relaxing holiday.

I went for my wife’s 40th they provided massive bunch of flowers a bottle of champagne great food Aircon room Aircon hotel swimming pool outside swimming pool on the rooftop really nice dining area clean staff were very helpful They were very welcoming and we enjoyed every minute of it. One of the best things about the hotel was that it was very quiet very peaceful.

Not a good start to our holiday . Suitcase went to the wrong room . Eventually found . I wouldn't class it as a 5 star hotel myself . Shower flooding toilet every time it was used . Dirty floor . Coffee machine limited coffee , not much atmosphere in the hotel . I think because the drinks are more expensive people are making their way to local bars instead ! On a plus note . Food was good . Lady in charge of the restaurant was charming and professional . Chambermaids were friendly . Gentleman in the pool bar entertaining and great at his job . Would we stay here again . Yes . On a side note I don't think 5 star should charge extra for using facilties on the top floor . Spa and infinity pool .

From day one we were made to feel welcome. From reception right through to bar and housekeeping the staff were very attentive, friendly and extremely helpful. Nothing was too much bother and all services were excellent. Would happily stay again in future

Lovely hotel, we arrived late on a Friday night and was greeted by the lovely Avi- they upgraded our room for free to our surprise to a slightly bigger room. The room was very spacious and had everything we needed. Shampoo, body wash and conditioner were included in the shower. The conditioner wasn’t very nice though it was a bit slimy so I would recommend bringing your own if you’re fussy on conditioner. There were fresh towels provided every day in our room and the house keeping team were brilliant at cleaning the room everyday! There is a mini fridge in the room which is handy. When you arrive there are two small bottles of water in the room, unfortunately there are no water fountains in the hotel to refill the bottles which is a bit of a let down but you can just go across the road to the little shop and get a big bottle of water for €1 anyway. There is a Nespresso machine in the room which is a nice touch however they only give you 2 capsules and then you have to pay 50 cent per capsule for more in the room. The room has electric roller blinds and electric shutters that can come up or down via the buttons next to your bed which was a nice touch and helps you get a good sleep as the room is blacked out. The shower was lovely and spacious and the bed was relatively comfy. I particularly liked the pillows you do get two each and they’re nice. The breakfast was brilliant, lots of variety and very accommodating for allergies. There is an omelette station where you can have your omelette made with your choice of fillings. There are different types of milk available including soya milk, oat milk and even lactose free milk. There are many varieties of juices and sparkling wine available. There is a huge Nespresso machine with a variety of tea bags (herbal teas) and coffee pods. There was sausages, bacon, hash browns, grilled veg, cold meats, cheeses, bread, cereal, fresh smoothies and pastries all available. The pool is nice and there was enough sun loungers however in the peak season I can imagine these get full very quickly. The pool bar offers some really nice lunch options I had the Caesar salad however this was smothered in dressing. The prices at this bar a bit more than average though. The bar staff are great, we loved Reuben! Such a laugh The spa is an additional €10 per person for one hour. It’s okay but morning special and a bit dated compared to the rest of the hotel it has a pool, sauna, shower, steam room and jacuzzi. We did use it one day when it was raining just a shame you have to pay more for it but I suppose it does keep it less busy. Beach towels are a €10 deposit each but you get that back when you return them so that’s fine. There is a sky lounge on the rooftop with a pool which is great however again you have to pay €20 a day to access it. The day we wanted to go up there was a wedding party taking pictures so the reception staff kindly let us have a free pass later in the evening around 5pm as it shut at 7pm I think we we

Lovely stay, very clean hotel. Friendly & helpful staff. Room was a good size, with a sea view from balcony, very comfortable & modern. Beach a 5 minute walk away. Plenty food choices at breakfast/dinner. Can't fault it, had a relaxing week. End of season so quieter which suited us.

Stayed here for 7 nights, I can honestly say that this is a first class hotel, there has been nothing to complain about, the staff are really friendly and welcoming, the rooms are spotless and very well maintained, the food has been excellent all week, we only ate out once for a change of scenery, amenities are very close by, so very easy to pick up some wine and enjoy on your balcony, we opted for a room with a Mediterranean sea view and were not disappointed at all, the area is very calm, relaxed and peaceful, thoroughly enjoyed my time here relaxing in the heat. Thank you to all the staff for making our break very enjoyable.
