Didn’t enjoy the breakfast the eggs wasn’t that good and the bacon was too tough for my liking and also my keys were giving trouble on the second day. But everything else was fine

Unfortunately not very clean. No glasses or cups in our room and made us pay for water. Probably the most bar minimal effort travelodge I have stayed in. See why it is 2 stars.

Basic. Clean and tidy. Breakfast self service quite acceptable. Would consider staying here again

It was ok.The room was clean, the bed was comfy. Good breakfast.

The staff were really friendly, the room itself wasn't very clean and the sink was leaking, toilet kept gurgling throughout the night and obviously can't be help but the location meant the night was very noisy.

Perfect location 15 min walk to brindley place along the canal No hairdryer Beds comfy and not noisy , Receptionist was a bit mardy didn’t even look at us Bathroom wasn’t very clean stains on the bath floor dusty

Firstly the positive is the location. Conveniently close to walk to the bullring and Utilita Arena. A little tip, if you're driving then park at Birmingham City Church Carpark, you can pay in advance using JustPark and it's cheaper the NCP. When we arrived the gentleman on reception gave us a warm, friendly welcome, asking if we knew where we were going for the show at the Arena gave us our room key and was very pleasant. Now for the negative, we got to room 226 and there was an overwhelmingly strong smell of burnt toast. My husband said it was too strong for him to stay so instantly went down to reception and asked for us to be moved rooms. The same gentleman on reception told him they always get complaints about that but it's throughout the hotel, so gave him some air freshener to spray. We tried it but it didn't touch it so we said we'd really like to try another room. That was met with hostility saying there's only 1 more room but it's in the middle and it'll be just as bad so he "can't keep moving us around." My husband said we will try it and so we moved rooms. Luckily he was wrong and it didn't smell at all so we were happy. The bed wasn't very comfortable and we had to keep the window open because it was very stuffy in the room. The heating kept coming on all night and there wasn't a thermostat in the room as they're controlling it for energy saving but I think the settings are way too high. I know it may sound like it but we're not ones to moan, this is the first time we've ever asked to move rooms so felt awkward doing so and to be met with hostility from staff wasn't what we were expecting. Such a shame as it would have been a fantastic base for us as we go to the Utilita several times a year.

Stunning staff, clean hotel and amazing staff. Every enquiry we had was handled amazingly and just such a nice atmosphere:) didn’t have to worry about anything. Breakfast was lovely, had so much to choose from and it’s unlimited. Nothing bad to comment on :)

Myself and my 4 year old toddler Alana have been coming too stay at this wonderful hotel Travel Lodge Newhall Street Birmingham. I couldn’t praise this hotel enough!!! Let me start with the wonderful brilliant staff. Each and every one who myself and Alana have interacted with are amazing. From the kind and caring Mangers Claire and Josh too the supervisors Shanaz and Victoria who are beyond amazing!!!! Then we have Idris And Pat and Mikey and Jhone who are honestly the most kindest genuine hardworking people you will come across honestly I couldn’t praise the team enough TOP TIER!!!! And also can i just mention Karina head off house keeping. She is just awesome and so incredibly hardworking. She never stops and always on the go. What ever you need be it extra towels or sheets she’s always at hand too help and all the team are. Myself and Alana initially came too the hotel too stay whilst we was waiting too move into our new place. Little did we know how we would end up gaining what I believe a life long relationship friendship with these incredible people. Claire is amazing with my daughter Alana along with all the staff Shanaz, Idris, Victoria, Pat Josh Mikey Karina they treat myself and my daughter with so much love and respect and couldn’t do enough too make sure we are happy and comfortable. The hotel has is lovely clean and very spacious. The room both double and family rooms are always too standard management and supervisors along with Karina always inspect the rooms before check in too make sure everything is in place. The hotel is very clean and any issues is dealt with swiftly. Myself and Alana have stay in many lovely hotels and what I would say makes this hotel so brilliant for me are the staff. They hard go far and beyond too make sure there customers are happy and taken care off. Each and every one off you at Newhall street who me and Alana have the pleasure off seeing on a week too week basis thank you. Also can I quickly mention the restaurant bar area is always super chill and very welcoming! There is lovely Pat who works within the restaurant area her food is always lovely and she goes far and beyond too make the food is top standard. Over all I would rate this Hotel 10/10. I would really appreciate if this review could reach the owners off the Travelodge and if they would so kindly do something for the staff too acknowledge the wonderful hard work that they do, maybe a bonus or even a staff holiday something where they can feel rewarded because it’s very rare too have the amazing staff you at Newhall street.

Great hotel right in the heart of Birmingham, nice and clean and very welcoming staff. Special thanks to Pat in the restaurant for an amazing dinner, your mash is the best Pat! Thank you so much for a great stay. I would definitely recommend and we will return I’m sure .

Located near to town centre. Usual clean rooms with extra pillows etc. When we arrived we were greeted by lovely friendly staff. Must mention the lovely Pat who cooked and served our evening meal. Pat your coleslaw is amazing. Thank you so much.

Is this the best budget hotel in Britain? Quite possibly. Over the past 40 years or so we have stayed in hotels across Europe ranging from 5-star deluxe to fleapits that would fail every known inspection. For both business and pleasure. Among the budget sites, we have often used a well-known French brand -- in France, the UK and elsewhere. But now our hearts have been stolen by the Travelodge in Birmingham's jewellery quarter. Staff here are the most friendly and helpful we have encountered at any hotel regardless of price or star rating. The phrase 'above and beyond' doesn't even scratch the surface. As you would expect at a price point of about £80 a night prepaid, the rooms are basic -- plenty of hanging space but no drawers or shelf units. But they are exceptionally clean and very comfortable. Lovely firm beds just beg you to take off your shoes and relax. When you wake up there's a good shower to prepare you for breakfast. Do not be tempted to miss it. At £9.99 this is the best value hotel breakfast we have enjoyed in a long time -- including scrambled eggs that look and taste freshly cooked. We were already more than pleased with the service until it came to checkout and departure when the front of house staff and hotel manager all rallied round to chase our missing cab and find a replacement -- ensuring that we got to the train on time. Many thanks to the whole team at Travelodge Newhall Street. We'll be back!

Large clean room, good choice for breakfast at affordable price (especially with kids - eat for free), good location 👍👍
