Bon Jour

A lovely hotel in a fantastic location badly let down by poor food, unhelpful staff and a lack of attention to detail. Location: great, right by old town and easy walk to the beach or strip. Rooms: recently refurbished, lovely shower! Pool: 2nd floor, nice and clean. Sun until 3pm. Target market: geriatric Spanish. Food: nursing home cuisine. Staff: great if you’re Spanish. Drinks: queues at breakfast. None provided at dinner (not even water!) all to be bought for extra €€. Rating: 4 star facilities run to 3 star standards. To get to 4 star they actually need to care about the guests’ experience. Then.... One night we asked for ice to put in our drinks. “That’ll be €1.” Needless to say that charge remains unpaid.

Me and my partner stayed at the Hotel Bristol last night for 1 night. When we arrived it took 25 minutes to check in as there was only 1 person at the desk. After we checked in we asked about parking as online it states parking, which we then found out it was €15 to use their own hotel car park. After we headed up to the room 807... soon as we opened the door the smell of smoke was very strong. We are both non smokers so the smell isn’t very pleasant for us. We then went to open the window to see right opposite from our window was another building which we could see threw into other windows where it was very visible to see threw. So we had to keep the curtains shut the whole time as we didn’t want strangers being about to see into our room. We headed down stairs back to reception where again we had to wait to be seen. We explained to the gentleman at the desk and he told us there was nothing he could do. He offered to send a cleaner up to clean the room. ( no cleaning would remove the smell from this room) and there was no other rooms available! We headed back up the room where we found no tv remote in the room, reception told us to change channels by buttons on tv! Also bathroom towels were ripped! Whilst in the shower a maid come up and sprayed some very strong air fresher... then 10 minutes later returned with a steamer to help clear the smell. After we returned from being out we could still smell the smoke. To which when we woke up in the morning it was still very strong! So we basically paid for a room which stunk of smoking and we couldn’t even open a window and curtains as people could just seen into our room! Staff not helpful at all! Also I’m gluten free and there was no gluten free items available at breakfast, we asked and they didn’t seem to have anything! I would of expected better service at this hotel for it being a 4* hotel and very disappointed.
