Premier Inn Basildon (Festival Park)

Top class bed lighting and new rooms Fanstastic

Staff were very pleasant and welcoming. Room however was very shabby with a 'repaired' kick damaged door, shabby decor including rusting metal lamps and switches, rotting bathroom skirt ingredients boards and an overall smell of damp. The toilet, bed and bath were all clean but everything else worn out completely. No ventilation other than a desk fan. Temperature in room was 30c. Breakfast was the highlight with plant staff and food although decor again badly needed updating. Full refurb of all facilities is well overdue. Price cannot be justified unless this happens soon.

Had a 2 night stay here it’s a great location staff are great and doing there best but in this heat with no air conditioning and a window that opens an inch all the fans are doing is circulating hot air around the room I have never experienced anything like it, cool evenings outside yet the internal temperature didn’t drop from 32degrees during our 2 days. Very uncomfortable and wouldn’t recommend staying here unless you want to be sleeping in a sauna

It would be very unreasonable to expect a 5 star experience at a budget hotel, however it is completely reasonable to expect a level of professionalism from the staff, who were very pleasant (on the whole), but sloppy. The room was great. Comfortable bed, nice shower and good size. My only issue was a dripping tap in the sink. Breakfast was great. I paid for two but only had one. I had to leave very early the next morning and was advised that I could have a continental breakfast from 5.30am. Nothing was ready at 5.45am. I was abruptly told I was misinformed and refused a refund. The woman was very unpleasant. It’s also not great overhearing staff talking about tanning their private parts on a sun bed! This hotel would definitely get a 4 or 5 star review if the conduct and attitude of the staff was up to scratch. Something to work on.

We had the worst night sleep of our lives . It was the 27th of June , external temperature was a pleasant 21 degrees, inside the room 32 c and no air . At 3am I couldn’t take it any more and had to go outside and sleep in my car . I came back at around 4 am to check my wife was still conscious and hadn’t succumbed to heat exhaustion . I am half joking but it was a serious matter and rooms were genuinely unsafe . These rooms should not be let in this condition it’s a health risk . To make it worse me and my wife paid 106 pounds for the privileged of being starved of oxygen and poached alive .

The staff were super friendly, helpful and kind. We were taken care of right from the start. Everyone was super friendly. The room and bathroom were very well designed, clean and comfortable. We had a lovely view of the lake. We slept comfortably and very well and the fan was very welcome in the heat. We loved the delicious breakfast in the lovely dining area. We were so impressed with our stay. It was fantastic value. We had stayed overnight for a wedding instead of driving late at night, tired and it made the overall experience really wonderful. Thank you so much and well done to the great team!

Room extremely hot with no air conditioning or ventilation, unable to open windows more than a couple of inches, room temperature was 31 degrees, so no sleep

Unfortunately we could not get booked into the Premier Inn near Stanford Le Hope (we use often while visiting family) so thought we would try the Festival Basildon Inn. We finally found it and the scaffolding did not put us off, we just needed somewhere to sleep. Lovely welcome on arrival and air conditioned reception. But the heat hit us on the corridor on the 1st floor. It was stuffy and no air from the windows each end. The hear was intense. The bedroom was the same. No air coming in from the restricted window and a fan that was probably only going to satisfy a gnat. Really old fixtures and fittings, carpets seem better days and as for the bathroom, I stuck to the floor. Terrible night's sleep and by morning felt incredibly ill from the heat from the room. I spoke to the guy at reception. You could see this was an ongoing daily complaint for him. He deserves better than to have to deal with the backlash from customers paying over £100 for rooms at that Standard. I recommend avoiding this hotel until cooler days, or until they can open their windows.

A Wednesday night in Basildon, the hottest day ever, staying in a very downmarket, ??hotel?? In Basildon The Premier Inn is not a great experience. Where do I start, the place is falling apart (see pictures) and there is no A/C!! Come on guys this is supposed to be the 21st century. But it’s cheap I hear you say, £195.99 for one person (including breakfast), I think £60 would be too much. I probably won’t bother with breakfast as I just want to get out ASAP. in the morning. I thought this might be an upgrade to the TravelLodge just round the corner which was much cheaper. Surly TravelLodge can’t be worse than this? So, At the end of the day, when you’re all done in, do not stay in a Premier Inn!
