Sahadewa House

The hotel features a stunning traditional Balinese garden and real Balinese family home, creating a serene and peaceful retreat. The family that owns the place is kind and welcoming. My room was clean, with a large double bed, a wardrobe, and a drying rack—especially useful during the rainy season for drying soaked clothes. I also appreciated the small desk, perfect for working on my laptop. A shared kitchen with a fridge and freezer is available for storing food and drinks. There is also a free potable water tank. The staff offers to clean your room daily. Moreover, the location was excellent, a 30-minute walk from both Ubud Monkey Forest and Ubud Royal Palace. A minor improvement would be a hairdryer, not only for your hair but also for drying shoes that get soaked during the rainy season. I inquired about hairdryers, but they simply don’t provide them. Additionally, the shower is unreliable—sometimes the water is warm, other times it’s cold. A consistently warm shower would have been nice during the rainy season. Lastly, the curtains are not blackout and allow light to filter in. The main reason I wouldn’t stay here again is the lack of soundproofing in the rooms. While the garden in the center of the complex is peaceful, the hotel rooms are located next to a road, making them prone to noise from passing traffic, barking dogs, and construction workers. Moreover, I could hear guests in the room next to me chatting and coughing. On one occasion, I had to get out of bed around 02:30 AM to ask guests who were sitting outside on the terrace and talking loudly to keep their voices down, as no staff were present to address the noise pollution.
