The Rice Joglo Eco-Stay

Firstly we are so glad to have chosen this place! It’s been 14 years since my last visit to Ubud and the traffic is shockingly bad.. Ubud has changed a lot. But the Rice Joglo was like Ubud as I had previously known, with rice terraces, winding paths, calm and serene. The room was stunning. Huge, two story layout called the temple suite with an outdoor bath, lounge and stunning views from every window. Loved, loved waking up here. Hot showers, no ac as eco stay but the fan was enough as it was so open and cool. Breakfast was included and was super healthy, maybe a slight change would have been nice from day to day but that’s all. Our daughter loved the animals, feeding the guinea pics, ducks and the hedgehogs were very sweet! Host was very friendly, staff fab and room immaculate! Would totally recommend and would love to return ☺️

We had a wonderful weeklong stay at Kristine’s beautiful, rustic rice Joglo. Tucked into the rice fields up a walking/scooter only path, we could escape the hustle of downtown Ubud into quiet serenity. The property is quaint and is wrapped in a large permaculture style gardens with chickens, ducks, goats and fish ponds. The dwellings are old and authentic but very comfortable with lots of open air and comfy places to sit and be. The bedrooms have good mosquito nets and fans but we didn’t see many mosquitoes in mid June. We were in the 3 story treehouse. Very cool, our kids loved it but the top story attic isn’t suitable for younger (2-6yo) due to the low balcony. In addition, the outside bathroom was superb but also contained a low wall (3ft) with a decent drop below that would be possible for a youngster to fall over. Not a big deal but made us extra anxious when they were out there. The beds were comfy and the fans worked well. The on-site restaurant ‘the Organic Farmer’ was great with delicious meals at a good price and the included breakfast was wonderful. The pool is small but adequate with our 3 kids enjoying it for the week. Using the Gojek scooter app(like Uber) was a great way to access to and from the Rice Joglo when travelling into Ubud. The walk is also pleasant. Wayan and her team looked after us beautifully Highly recommended

We had a fantastic stay at the Rice Joglo and enjoyed the tranquility and especially the staff, namely Pak Sonu and Ibu Wayan, a lot. While you are close to Ubud it still takes you 20 min walking to get back to the city center which makes it perfect if you are looking for a quiet place with access to the hustle of Ubud. Breakfast was nice, the rooms very authentic.

This is probably the most beautiful place we have stayed during our trip in Bali. Is feels magical when you arrive, wake up in de morning or when you strawl down the rice fields in te nearby area. That and the extreme kindness of the host Sonu is amazing. We really enjoyed every second of hour stay at the Rice Joglo. Also for small children te big familyhouse is perfect. I hope to be back next year. Oh and the make an amazing homemade peanutbutter that the children really enjoyed eating. We also had a cooking class with friendly staff and delicious food. Thanks for everything guys en see you next year!

Truely a magical experience to stay in this beautiful antique Joglo surrounded by the rice paddies. Wandering along the path to watch the sunset while eating dinner at one of the local warungs was a highlight as was watching the firefly’s in the paddy’s at night. Sonu and the staff attended to our every need and I loved learning to cook satay and Balinese curry with them. The breakfasts using homemade ingredients from their organic garden were delicious. I look forward to our next stay

This is a magical, beautiful place in the middle of the rice fields, yet so close to the centre of Ubud that everything is within easy walking distance. The Rice Joglo is a hotel, but it is run as if you were at home here: only a few rooms, each unique and beautifully furnished, very personal attention from arrival to departure - and a house reminiscent of a fairy tale. It is located between the rice fields, cannot be reached by car (your luggage is expertly transported by moped, don't worry) and has a thousand small and big details to marvel at: plants, animals, the pond, the rice fields... a truly wonderful place. Someone has created a little paradise here with a lot of love for detail. And yes, for once you can trust the photos on their website: It is perhaps even more beautiful live... Host Sonu and his team are incredibly hospitable and make you feel completely at home here. I will definitely be back!

Autentique excellente cuisine. L’ambiance des rizière d’Ubud avec le côté authentique du potager et côté internationale avec la carte healthy food . On y était 2 fois pour le petit dej et 1 fois pour le dîner. Tout est absolument délicieux, fait maison avec les produits de la ferme. Cuisines asiatiques et balinaise, petit dej international pour tous les goût en mode healthy food Équipe super sympa, cardre idillisue avec une vue sur les coucher de soleil Je conseille vivement !

Der kleine Bauernhof wird mit Liebe geführt. Die Gastgeberinnen sind sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Sie organisieren alles für den Gast was er benötigt z.B Kochkurs etc. Die Bungalows sind der Hammer und man kommt aus dem Staunen nicht heraus. Mit Liebe im Detail und den Außenbad mit Blick in den Dschungel fühlt man sich sehr wohl. Hier sollte man unbedingt einen Stopp einlegen. Nach Ubud kommt man in 20 Min zu Fuß aber Rollertaxis lassen sich jederzeit organisieren. Einer der schönsten Plätze die es gibt !
