Bella Kita Mountain Retreat & Spa

This is a truly amazing resort. I have visited the Monkey Bar before & wanted to stay in the villas. Villa 5 was beautiful. Huge bedroom, outside bathroom, kitchenette & large outside seating area. Meals are at the nearby Monkey Bar where there is also a very nice spa area. The massage was great and there is a complimentary treatment of 30 mins if you are staying in the villas. The manager & staff were lovely and staff at Monkey Bar also couldn’t have been more obliging. Nothing is too much trouble. Would definitely stay again

Gorgeous villas (mine was 101), with great views. The only reason I would restrict staying to one night are the geckos. Big ones that scurry around consuming the huge flying insects. While the real jungle provides life lessons on the corporate jungle, I did shriek a fair bit before the lessons dawned in. Sneaky behaviour of the receptionist to withhold change, & then to shortchange, on the cash paid for the stay.

The Bella Kita was one of the most beautiful places I have stayed at. Simple yet authentic, basic yet breathtaking. This is not a modern resort with anything and everything you could want, it is a stunning traditional set of villas in the jungle that captures the pure beauty of the jungle with everything you need. The beds are super comfy, the bathroom is gorgeous and you literally feel like you’re showering in the Forrest, the views will take your breath away. One only restaurant but the restaurant has traditional and western options and can cover every meal you need. The accomodation I found cheap yet the restaurant pricey for Bali standards but not at all compared to Australian pricing. Be prepared to hear the jungle noises and local ceremony’s but to be honest that just adds to the beauty. The views are breathtaking and the ability to switch off and enjoy you can’t put a price on. I stayed with two teenagers and we all left rested, blown away and willing to come back. I highly recommend

We came here from first visiting Canggu and Ubud. Our experience of Bali before this was wonderful! At this place, however, I felt like all that I was seen as was what I could offer in terms of money. It wasn’t a wonderful experience and I’m the future I would be sure to not visit here again.

What a hidden gem. They've made it a magical jungle retreat. The pool views are hard to process as real, as are the monkey bar views (we took countless photos and fell silent looking out). Great food at the bar, and the staff everywhere were super lovely. The taxi drivers in particular were so accommodating, stopping at a shop along the way, advising us on the best things to do in the local villages. We definitely stay for a few more nights. MAGICAL.

PROS: Photos do not do justice to how beautiful this hotel is. One of the most beautiful places I have ever stayed in. The villas are gorgeous and have mesmerizing views. The pool area is stunning. We had a private pool villa (which was amazing), but we realized that the common pool at the hotel is just as beautiful and with a mere six villas in total, it's never crowded. The entire property is teeming with flowers and greenery and has a super charming vibe to it. Monkey Bar restaurant adjacent to the hotel is a must-visit for the views and the vibe. If your stay is inclusive of breakfast, you'd get breakfast vouchers for this place. They also give you discount vouchers for the spa located at Monkey Bar, but the massage prices at this spa were already 3-4 times that of normal Ubud/Sidemen rates so we decided to skip it. The hotel staff is very friendly and helpful. Wayan and Minggu helped arrange a cab and boat onward to Nusa Penida on the last day of my stay (when it seemed certain that I would be missing the last daytime boat to the island) It was a refreshing break from the hustle and bustle of Seminyak and Canggu. CONS (or rather "NOT CONS BUT NOT QUITE PROS"): The place is on a hilltop, consequently, it is isolated from the rest of civilization. Be prepared to book a taxicab if you wish to head anywhere from the hotel. Make sure to carry all that you would need during your stay with you before heading up the hill. Snacks, liquor, beers, mosquito repellent, that kind of stuff. The optimal way to stay here is to use it for a rest break: a day or two between your busy itinerary. Keep 1 or 2 nights dedicated to just spending in the hotel and just relaxing, and then continue onward with your itinerary. Planning day trips while staying at this hotel can be cumbersome. The restaurant, being the only place to eat in the vicinity, is priced a bit higher than anything you'd normally encounter in Ubud and around. The views and the beauty of the place totally justify the price, though the food isn't anything extraordinary. Cycling is the only activity on offer. If you're looking at a longer stay (longer than 2-3 nights), you might find activities offered in the area to be limited. But honestly, I am probably nitpicking. Overall, I'd rate it as a 10/10 Must Visit. I'd definitely be coming here again.
