Exceeded expections on all grounds! I am so happy with the hotel I wanted to spread the word. This hotel has great old world charm and more. I was a little worried about the condition of the hotel (more than 100 years old!) but everything was fine. I stayed at the Main Wing / basic room with park view. The bathroom was basic (business hotel like) but very clean, but the room / bedding and the view at our window was wonderful. Given the low price point, we were very happy with the room. Definitely recommend the Main Wing, and if you can, a room with higher price point.
All staff, from shuttle bus / concierge / front desk / bar, are excellent. We really enjoyed the check in process - you can sit at the lounge admiring Einstein's piano while the front staff comes calling your name. Also try the tea lounge both during the day and night (turns to a bar). I would also like to extend special thanks to Korean speaking front manager Lee Su Jin who helped us in so many ways. She really made our stay comfortable.
One thing to note about Nara city itself is that most venues close at 4pm and have unpredictable operating hours. You can't just walk around hoping to sit down at a cafe or restaurant. Highly recommend making reservations in advance of your trip and I'm sure Nara hotel concierge can help with this.
I really enjoyed Nara Hotel and look really forward to returning.

It was our first family trip in a long time.
It was a great way to unwind from our busy schedules.
The room was spacious and the hot springs were great.
It was a quiet room, so my daughter and I were able to talk about various things.
The food was delicious and we had a variety of seasonal dishes.
Everyone was friendly and we enjoyed Nara at our own pace.

The well-regulated Japanese-style tatami room, just three people's bunk, all kinds of supplies are complete, but the room does not provide free drinking water, the tea itself has a taste of tap water. Dinner and breakfast are provided. People go to the table. The sashimi has been dried. Other dishes are more ordinary. It is almost meaningless than other hot spring hotel meals. The ladies hot spring is a small pool and a bathtub and sauna similar to the foot of the Buddha. There are no highlights. The waiter is not particularly enthusiastic. I stared at the guests and said that I could not touch this and that. There was a free drink machine at the entrance of the hot spring. I wanted to drink in the morning and found that I was turned off after work. The only highlight is the waiter who came to help, who was gentle and beautiful. The hotel terrace has a good view and the price is average.

Asukasou is an old hotel in Nara, famous for its cuisine, service, and the view of the five-story pagoda of Kofuku-ji Temple. Now the five-story pagoda is wrapped tightly, and you can't recognize it when you walk in front of it. It will take several years at the speed of Japan. There is no shuttle bus for service, and you can park at the door of the store. The staff are warm and attentive. The cuisine is kept up to standard, fresh and delicious, full of sincerity, and the seasoning is also very delicious, but the dishes are not served one after another. The room I booked is the most ordinary and smallest single room in the hotel, about 12 square meters, the bed is against the wall, the space is used to the extreme, and the bathroom has a bathtub. It is very new and clean, so it is not uncomfortable to live in such a small room. The rooms in the whole hotel have been renovated. The Japanese-style rooms are very beautiful, but the view of the pagoda is completely gone now. The public space hotel lobby is old, the carpet in the room corridor is very old and dirty, and the air conditioner in the hotel room is slightly loud. These are not problems. The biggest problem of this hotel is that the lobby bathroom has a very serious odor, which causes the restaurant on the first floor and the corridor on the second floor to be very smelly, with a smell of sewer. Fortunately, the door is sealed and the room has no smell. The location is very good. You need to take a taxi to JR Station and Kintetsu Station, but you can walk to the attractions. The hotel shop has good things and is not expensive. I bought tea and deer. Overall, I recommend staying here, but the problem of odor needs to be solved urgently.
The Setre Naramachi is an ideal spot for travelers wanting to discover the city. Visitors to Nara will find that the Setre Naramachi is a fantastic accommodation choice. The hotel is conveniently located just 700m from KINTETSU-NARA and 48km from Osaka International Airport. There's plenty to do nearby, with Kofuku-ji, Shosoin Treasure House and Todaiji Daibutsuden (Great Buddha Hall) all within a short distance. This hotel makes a great place to kick back and relax after a long day of sightseeing. If you demand a high level of service, our guests have indicated that this hotel has excellent standards.

Service: The front desk was very polite. The rice balls breakfast was good. The milk was sweet and not fishy at all. It was delicious. There was also a self-service tea from 3pm to 7pm.
Environment: The hotel is located near Nara Park, very close to Kofuku-ji Temple, and about 15 minutes to the subway station.
Facilities: Small but complete. The most basic room type booked, the floor-to-ceiling panoramic window P4 is worth it, but the only drawback is that the table is very small. You need to prepare your own toothbrush and toothpaste.

It's hard to rate it in one night, but we liked everything. The Japanese-style room was new to us. It's not far from the metro, the train station is further away of course... There's a Starbucks on the first floor, it's convenient that it opens at 8am and you can have breakfast there.
The hotel doesn't offer breakfast, but you can order a bento in advance.
Would we stay again? Definitely yes.

I wanted to stay in a Japanese-style B&B, and I searched for this one which had great reviews, so I decided to stay there even though the price was a bit expensive.
1. The location is excellent, right at the foot of Mount Wakakusa, within walking distance of Kasuga Taisha Shrine, Nara Park, and Todaiji Temple.
2. It is a really traditional Japanese-style room. There is a heater in the room. A lady will serve you dinner and breakfast, and you will also sleep on the tatami for one night.
3. There is no floor heating in the outside room, toilet and bathroom where you enter the house. It is still a bit cold in winter, thanks to the heated toilet seat.
4. Experience the private soup. The service staff will prepare everything and call to inform. Then the private soup area will be invisible and no one can be seen. It is very private and recommended.
