Hazz Hotel Baku

I stayed here twice on my trip to Azerbaijan. The hotel is 5 mins from Fountain square, 10 mins from old town and Sea boulevard. Rooms are clean, good size, modern with ac, fridge, tv etc. Both mine faced the rear of the building so no road noise. Nice comfy bed. Staff were friendly but spoke little English. Breakfast was buffet style and one of the best I had in Azerbaïdjan. I paid 72 manat which is about £30 which I felt was a fair price. Would definitely return if ever in Baku again.

We arrived at the Hazz Hotel and fairly quickly it became obvious that there was going to be an issue. The receptionist didn't speak any English, the manager arrived and we were told there were no rooms available. The pictures of the Hazz Hotel on *********** are not accurate. There's no lift and the reception area furniture was dirty & old. The manager insisted that we stay in another hotel called the Co-Pilot around the corner, which he also apparently owned. Interestingly the Hotel is not listed anywhere. We are a group of 13 ladies travelling together. We were not happy as the hotel was dirty and sub standard. The manager became rude, intimidating and aggressive. He wanted to charge us more money and tell *********** that we were a no show at the Hazz hotel. We would not have booked this dirty hotel if it had been advertised on ***********. The breakfast room was dark, dingy with no windows, claustrophobic, with a smell of sewage and flies on the food. Needless to say we found a local cafe to have breakfast. The rooms were dirty, the bed was so hard I ended up sleeping in my friends room. The TV didn't work, the phone didn't work.We considered going elsewhere but how many hotels have 10 rooms available last minute, we had no choice but to stay!!! The rooms were not cleaned in the 3 days we were there. No clean towels. We asked for a sheet as we only had a counterpain. Only small amounts of toilet paper were provided, so all of us had to ask for more!!! . Some of our group found fleas on the carpet & beds. The only positive thing is that it's near the shops & bars. However, it's obviously a scam to make money at the expense of the innocent tourist. Read the other reviews.. My advice ...avoid at all costs. Very disappointing!

This hotel doesn’t look anything like the photographs, and isn’t even clean, but that’s the least of the issues. We had to wait for over an hour in the scruffy reception area, only to be informed that the hotel was fully booked and that we’d have to move to an alternative. Rooms were showing as available on the website, surprise surprise 😡 The owner later tried to claim money back saying we were a no show. We had no choice as we were in a group and had no knowledge of the area. So thankful I wasn’t alone and at least it was daytime, or else the experience with intimating staff here would’ve been even worse. We were sent to the Co Pilot / Deniz hotel, which was a clear downgrade, very basic, and they TRIED TO CHARGE US MORE!!! The final straw was when we returned from a day of site seeing and making the best of our situation to; flea infestation, springs sticking out of the mattresses, unwashed sheets, uncleaned bathroom, rude staff. I cut my trip short as I didn’t feel safe to stay on as a solo traveller once my friends left Avoid, avoid, avoid!!!!

Arrived at Hotel and told we couldn’t check in until manager arrived. 30 mins later manager arrived to say we couldn’t stay at the hotel as it has problems! Firstly it was the elevator was broke, when we said that’s not a problem we were told things in rooms were broke/not working. The manager told us he had arranged for us to stay in his ‘cousins’ hotel round the corner called Co Pilot. To cut a very long story short they wanted to charge us extra for new hotel which took nearly an hour to resolve and then we were offered rooms which to be quite honest were extremely poor/old/tired. Hotel had no facilities, nowhere to sit outside of one’s room, couldn’t even purchase a bottle of water - it was 40 degrees. We didn’t have a choice but to accept the hotel change as we were a large group of ladies requiring many rooms. After checking into the alternative hotel offered we quickly discovered the rooms were filthy, bathrooms filthy, mattresses full of stains, my room and another ladies room had actual fleas and I suffered flea bites to lower legs. Hotel of an evening was left to be run by two male teenagers not a day over 20 years, felt unsafe and unclean the whole stay. Hazz hotel is using its images and hotel as click bait, people like us are booking the modern hotel with facilities in good faith and then on arrival being told it’s not possible to accommodate due to dubious reasons. Incidentally we could book Hazz hotel via *********** on the day we were told rooms were broke/damaged. When the manager was challenged about this he made the excuse that *********** hadn’t removed/updated the status of the hotel as being ‘unavailable’ The Hazz hotel remained available to book throughout our stay in the alternative ‘cousins’ hotel. Most shocking about all of this is that we then learned that Hazz hotel had contacted *********** and declared our party as a no show to claim full monies even though they had checked us into the alternative flea pit themselves for which they had received payment. Do not book this hotel or Co Pilot under any circumstance they are operating a scam pure and simple

We had booked rooms for 13 adults for 3 nights but on arrival we were told that the lift was broken. We said that we didn't mind the stairs but then were told that the hotel was fully booked and that arrangements were made for us to stay at another hotel on a nearby street. We went to check it out. Some of the rooms weren't ready and those that were had dirty sheets. We were asked to pay extra and when we refused the owner got very aggressive. The rooms and the hotel as a whole are very dated. Complimentary cockroaches, Mosquitoes, flies in breakfast area which was a dungeon, outside my window was rubbish including a broken chair. No sheet between the bed sheet and comforter, shower was filthy, no hand soap, smell of drainage both inside and outside the hotel. We had no alternative but to accept this other hotel called the co-pilot. On top of all this he cancelled our reservation with *********** as us being a no show and wanted to charge us. Unfortunately for him we were smarter. We have proof of our arrival with 3 Bolt taxi cabs outside the Hazz hotel. I could go on and on.

This is a scam do not stay here. We booked the Hazz Hotel but on arrival was told there was a problem with our rooms but there was another hotel we could stay in nearby. They put us in the Co pilot hotel it was tired,dirty and the bathroom was grim just hadn’t been cleaned 🤮 we had fleas on the rug and you couldn’t use the breakfast room as all you could smell was the drains. We couldn’t change as we were a large group Do not stay here..

If I could I would rate this place 0. Was told no rooms for us and *********** entered as no show even though we arrived well before checkin time. Sent to another hotel the CoPilot - one of the most disgusting hotels I have ever been in. No exaggeration but Totally dirty, stained walls , stained mattresses, fleas, nothing was clean, many things cracked and broken . No housekeeping service. No English speaking receptionist. No communal lobby. UNSECURED Wifi which hardly ever even worked. Total scam by hazz hotel. Total scam by Copilot hotel. AVOID BOTH HOTELS Baku has other much better ones.

Awful experience do not recommend booking this hotel. Unable to stay as despite confirmed booking no rooms available. Offered inferior hotel nearby, rooms tired, dirty and not same standard. We were a group of friends so had few options to find rooms at last minute. Owner aggressive and intimidating.

There is a scam on Westerners at this Hotel. We went to check in and we were told that there was a problem, but we could stay in another hotel nearby. When we went to the other hotel it was tired and dirty with unmade beds, filthy floor, and very poor breakfast. It looks like this hotel does the same with other travellers. We could not cancel as we were a group. The hotel then told the booking site that we had not turned up.
