Lovely week's holiday as a family of 4 in April. Unpredictable weather but that has absolutely nothing to do with the hotel! Arrived at 10pm at night and received small parcels for all of us due to the time, very nice touch. Our cases were taken to the room for us which was unexpected, and I would recommend having some small change on you at arrival as we felt awkward that we couldn't tip. Rooms were very nice, we were on the 4th floor room 323 with view of the pool but slightly off to the side and it was very peaceful. Room service was everyday and cannot fault the cleanliness of the hotel and grounds in general. It is spotless. There is a fabulous kids play area which opened up on the day we left but looked brilliant, all under cover with seating for the parents in the sun. Pool is incredible, far too cold for us though in April! But it is huge and can imagine it would be amazing in the summer with an abundance of sun beds. Feel like the food let's the hotel down slightly as it was generally repetitive. Still tasty though and no one went hungry,.it was just 'ok'. More signage on the cakes and desserts are needed as there was none, and it's nice to know what you're eating or helpful for those with allergies. Restaurant staff were fabulous and worked very hard at clearing tables quickly,.nothing was too much trouble. We hired a car for the week and very glad we did as there is very little in the surrounding areas, and the nearest supermarket is about a 15 minute walk away in a busy road. Overall this was a very pleasant out of season holiday.

Arrived home yesterday from a lovely week at Alvor Baia resort. Went as a family of 4 (2 adults and 15 &8 year old) Our room was lovely, clean and spacious. I emailed before our trip to ask for a kettle in our room and there was one waiting for us when we arrived. Fantastic welcome from staff on arrival. Food and drink were good and something tasty for us all to eat every day. Pool was lovely and clean…. No fighting for sunbeds as there were plenty for everyone. All the staff were helpful and friendly. Only thing that we felt was lacking was the snacks during the day. They had to be consumed in the bar area only which was a pain that you couldn’t enjoy a ice cream pool side. Great bus service to the beach offered by the hotel. Entertainment staff were great too! We are definitely thinking of returning back with more of our family so they can enjoy it too.

Enjoyable week in Portugal with my daughter. Have stayed at the Alvor Baia before and have always found it to be pleasant and perfectly functional for what we were going to need for our week away. We liked the modern feel of the hotel, the free shuttle service to/from the beach, food options given we’re both a little fussy, and the Kids Club which once settled she found really enjoyable in the mornings giving me an hour or so to catch-up on some work. There were hiccups though, or more things where you stand back and think “really?” which were disappointing or at least could’ve been better: Check-in was rubbish. Tui arrange the holidays not us, so I can’t help arriving at 10:30am regardless of how many times you point at the sign on your desk saying “Check in at 16:00”. What are we supposed to do? We looked ahead and chose to hire beach towels from the hotel rather than shipping our own from the UK for €20 repayable upon check-out. What a farce. You’re made to jump through a gazillion hoops both to get hold of them and to return them. It takes an age and honestly isn’t worth it - take your own. Drinks are aren’t limited as part of being all inclusive, though they sort of are due to the service availability at the bars. The main bar has been segregated-off as a pay-bar (deserted obviously) whereas the remaining two inside and outside are overrun. It takes an age to get a drink and whilst the staff are very nice you can’t get away from the long waiting times and that does limit how many you have. Who on earth decided it was a good idea to take a block booking from a whole football club during the middle of the English school half-term holiday? An entire squad and their coaching team were based at the Alvor Baia for the week as part of their pre-season and it wasn’t ideal for regular guests. For example, they had their own area to sit in the dinning room though when 30+ people descend on mass to choose what they want for lunch it causes huge queues for the people stuck behind… especially when they’re in zero rush mostly just chatting and messing around rather than actually putting food on their plates. They were nosey too - very - at night in the corridors. They need to stay somewhere though in a family all-inclusive resort during the school holidays. Really? It was busy and no-doubt it’s tiring looking after so many guests over this key period. Some of the colleagues particularly in the dining area though.. it’s like they’re trying to herd cattle rather than holidaymakers. Look - overall and enjoyable holiday and a good experience, though some bits that could’ve been better. Having stayed here before four times before it’s always been beyond question that we’ll be back. Today we’ve left and… I’m more open to shopping around next time.

We travelled with TUI to this hotel for two weeks with another couple. Firstly, the welcome at reception when we arrived was lovely, met by a lovely lady who was really helpful and although our room was not ready we were given our bands so we could have lunch and a drink. When we got our room, 336 and our friends, 337, it was large, very clean, very modern and had the largest balcony ever!!! A lounge with sofa which converted to a double bed if needed, complete with kitchen, microwave, hob, fridge and coffee machine, fully equipped and then a double bedroom, modern bathroom. Not many hangers so take some with you. Both rooms had doors onto the balcony and we had lovely views over the biggest pool ever!! The cleanliness continued throughout the hotels general area, bars, restaurants, poolside, etc. The cleaners have to have a special mention, so much glass but never saw a fingerprint!! The pool is immense, very clean and the surrounding gardens are really lovely and well kept. Never had to reserve a sunbed in the whole two weeks, always available even when we'd had a walk into town and beach we could choose beds at midday. It was getting a bit busier towards the end of our holiday but there were still beds free. The toilets are continually cleaned and the poolside bar was quick and efficient. The blue restaurant was for adults and was lovely and spacious, never felt like we were sat on top of anyone. Always had to give your room number and were then seated by the staff at a clean and set table which sometimes meant it took a few minutes to get in but no more than that. The food was very good and all were extremely well presented, lots of lovely salads, always had meat and fish being grilled along with other fish and meat dishes, rice, potatoes, chips, pasta, veg etc. Always 2 soups to chose from and the desserts and fruit were lovely. Never picked up a dirty plate and the cutlery was exceptionally shinny and clean. Beer, wine and soft drinks as well as water were available. Breakfast had everything you could wish for and more and again well set out. In all of our two weeks, every member of staff we encountered were lovely, helpful, friendly and polite from the cleaners, bar staff, reception and the entertainment team, who did their best throughout the day to provide activities around the pool. Entertainment every night around the pool, although our first week was cool on an evening so we stayed inside in the downstairs bar, although the only downside to this was that when the room was full it was really noisy and echoey because of the hard surfaces as there were no soft furnishings in the room. We're not too bothered about evening entertainment so it's not a big deal on our holidays. If I had to be very picky, I thought the bed and pillows were a bit uncomfortable although the others found them to be o.k., and also the towels could be larger and a bit softer and fluffier. The free hotel bus runs numerous times throughout the day

I must say, I was very surprised!!! When I arrived I was already smiling by such an incredible welcome by the best reception staff, specially Anabela and Paulo whom were very professional and helpful. Paulo has an exceptional way to welcome guests and explain local areas to explore! A big 10 to the cleaning ladies, my room was spotless everyday. Food and drinks amazing followed by a pool the size of portugal. Well done, mates, will be back soon! Thanks a lot!
