Tropical Sol

First solo trip and booked through Hayes who recommended. Never been to Portugal and wanted something quiet and friendly. This is exactly the right location, staff extremely helpful. Lots of regulars stay here and bar staff knew them all. Walked to old town everyday and although weather was unpredictable the sight seeing is exceptional. Hotel/Apt is throughly clean.

Almost 6 years since my husband and I stayed here and it was even better than we remembered, breakfast was always prepared and served fresh by a lovely young lady Manook (I apologise if I have spelt your name wrong). My daughter booked this for my birthday and I could not have wished for a better present. This was our 30th time staying in Portugal as it is our favourite destination. The weather was really bad for the full 5 days we were there, but even that did not spoil our holiday, we ate every night straight opposite the hotel at Fat Cats I must admit I ordered the same meal every night as it was delicious, but my husband had 4 different meals and enjoyed every one . We always tip for good service and when we tipped Manook and told her we were going home the next morning at 8am she opened the breakfast hall at 7.30 and cooked us a beautiful full english which we thought was above and beyond her job she is a real credit to this hotel. Hoping to return soon to this BRILLIANT hotel. MISS IT ALREADY.

Five stars for the value. We came off peak and it's lovely. The rooms are HUGE. Quite surprising. The lady with the curly hair on the reception went out of our way to make it a cheerful stay. She was absolutely lovely. All of the staff were exceptionally nice actually. One of the cleaners was the most amazing source of information and made our stay so much better with her recommendations. The only negatives really are that the beds are quite hard, the pillows were wobbly and quite worn out and generally the place needs lots of little maintenance issues resolved and a slight update... But all in all, an absolutely wonderful stay. The bar and breakfast is nice. The pool is amazing although you won't want to go in off peak, it's freezing! It could be a real attraction if they could heat it! There is plenty of space around the pool for deck chairs. The balconies are just enough space to enjoy the outdoors whilst staying in. The TV set in the living room is large enough and there is another in the bedroom. The design of the room is very pleasant. We will definitely be returning here again. Cannot fault this hotel. Amazing front house staff from Paulo, Marissa and all the cleaning staff. The hotel has a great reputation as it proves by repeat guests coming back again and again. Apartments very well equipped with everything you will need for your stay. Microwave. 2 ring cooker, fridge, all crockery provided. Big walk in shower, towels replaced daily, and cleaned to a high standard. Flat screen TV with English Chanel’s. All rooms are pool facing. Pedro the pool/Maintenance guy very professional and always happy and keeps the area clean and tidy. There is a snack bar on site that serves amazing well priced food and drink. Natalia and Francisco go above and beyond to make sure you get great service, and always with a smile. Supermarket 5 mins walk, great bakery round the corner with baked fresh bread daily, and cakes to die for. Uber about €4-5 to the old town or a 20 min walk. Already booked for next year, very much our happy place. Well done Tropical Sol for keep giving us memories. See you next year. 5*

Great stay, lovely big room - a couple of small issues (lots of ants in room, cupboard door broken) but these were sorted quickly. We also found crisps on bedroom floor on check in! Great air conditioning and amazing shower. 2 adults and 2 girls (20 and 15) sharing the room - the beds in the bedroom were comfortable but the sofa beds weren’t great - 1 was really hard, the other soft with a thin mattress. Pool area was lovely, always got a sun bed but the ones with umbrella’s were taken early. Hotel itself wasn’t rowdy/noisy, no big groups but our room was near the road and we were woken a few times at around 4.30 am by people returning to other hotels/apartments. Ate mainly at the old town but had a lovely meal at the Clay Oven and bought a few things at the lovely bakery around the corner.

Absolutely loved my stay at tropical sol had room 0012 with its own terrace which was right in front of the pool bar the staff Francisco Natália and francesco were amazing so friendly and made us feel very welcome the cleaners were brilliant lovely lovely people and did a fantastic job 😀 all the staff were lovely definitely be back in July 2025 can’t wait thank you tropical sol
