Together with my wife i came to this elegant and beautiful hotel. The rooms are tastefully decorated and very well maintained. The service in the whole hotel is impeccable and with a warm and welcoming touch. You absolutely have to have dinner at the Fine Dining à la carte hotel restaurant close to the pool area. Food and wines are delicious! The Caramel Grecotel is an excellent choice if you come to the Island of Crete!

At this wonderful place we were able to experience not only relaxation but also genuine hospitality. The excellent service, the warmth of the entire team and the fantastic food made our stay something very special. Every day was a little break from everyday life - with great attention to detail, culinary highlights and an ambience that invites you to feel good. We are leaving with many wonderful memories and are already looking forward to seeing you again.

Enjoyed a lovely relaxing break with family at Caramel. From start to finish, the staff couldn’t be more accommodating. Beautiful rooms, close by to the lovely town of Rethymno, Caramel is so peaceful! Their renowned Greek hospitality is second to none and the food and drink is 5 star - special thanks to Front of House Maria, for always going the extra mile. Thoroughly recommend for families and couples.

We thoroughly enjoyed our week here at this lovely hotel. The staff truly made our stay even more enjoyable with their friendliness and attentiveness. A special shout-out to Alex (“The Machine”), one of the restaurant managers, whose hard work and dedication greatly enhanced our experience.

Our stay at this hotel was absolutely exceptional. Everything was spotless – the cleanliness truly stood out and one detail that made a lasting impression was the wonderful scent throughout the hotel – subtle, luxurious, and incredibly comforting.The service was warm, attentive, and made us feel right at home. The food was nothing short of perfection, every meal a delight. On top of that, the design of the hotel is breathtaking – elegant, thoughtful, and inspiring. We can't recommend it highly enough. A truly unforgettable experience!

The hotel was so beautiful and the service excellent, food healthy and delicious, and there’s simply not much negative to say. The only things however I missed as a mum for two kids (age 5 and 2) was a more kids friendly beach (stone and rocks in the beginning) and some more space where the kids could run around near the dining area. When the kids finished eating we felt we had to hurry finishing up the food so that the kids didn’t run around in the buffé or around other people enjoying their dinner. Except from that, truly excellent. A special shoutout to the food and beverage manager Alex. He was so kind to us and our children who became such big fan of him. We will truly visit some other time.

This is a small, beautiful boutique hotel with clean, spacious rooms. We stayed in a Junior Suite Garden – lovely, but the terrace lacked privacy as there’s no screening to the left or right. The hotel has only two restaurants: the buffet (also used for breakfast) and the à la carte restaurant by the pool, which oddly closes on Tuesdays and Sundays – a detail that’s hard to understand. At lunchtime, you can eat by the pool without reservation (you are not allowed to make any reservation), but shaded tables are limited and often unavailable. The pool is large and attractive (non-heated), but the service there was poor. A major downside was the beach and beach area: very rocky and not inviting at all – we didn’t enjoy it. While beach service is supposedly available, in seven days we were never once asked if we wanted a drink. We always had to go to the bar ourselves. Reception and restaurant staff were very friendly and helpful. Buffet food was of good quality with decent variety. However, the à la carte prices felt exaggerated. Overall, it’s a 5-star hotel with some clear areas for improvement.

This is the second year in a row I’ve sent my wife, daughter, and mother-in-law to Grecotel Caramel, and once again – they came back absolutely thrilled! This place is a rare gem that combines luxury, comfort, and genuine care. A huge thank you to the entire hotel staff – their warmth and professionalism make all the difference. A special mention to Maria and Alexander, the hotel managers – their attention to detail, kindness, and constant support are truly exceptional. They anticipate every need and go above and beyond to make sure everything is perfect. Our little daughter adores this place – everything is thoughtfully tailored for children. And both my wife and mother-in-law were able to fully relax and recharge, enjoying the beautiful surroundings, the sea, and the impeccable service. Thank you, Grecotel Caramel, for creating such a magical experience for my family. We’re already planning next year’s trip!

This property has completely redefined what 5-star hospitality means to me. We stayed for 4 nights and it was so relaxing, we didn’t even feel the need to step out and explore the rest of Crete. There are a few things that make this place quite unique but top of the list has to be the level of personalization. The staff appear to know the names of all the guests and remember minor details, which is quite remarkable in a resort of this size. While the property feels spacious and luxurious, none of the common areas ever felt crowded. There were no lines for breakfast, no rush to reserve pool-side seats, no queue at check-in or out. The food was incredible. Fresh, bursting with flavour, with a completely new selection everyday. I've travelled extensively, and I can confidently say this was the best breakfast and dinner buffet I’ve come across. The beach is sandy (rare in Europe!) and there is plenty of seating. There is one large swimming pool with ample seating. While the cleanliness of the pool wasn’t always at the same spotless level as the rest of the property, it did not detract from the overall experience. Rooms were immaculate, with spacious bathrooms and large shower cubicles. Evenings were rounded off with live music until 10pm, a lovely way to end the day. For those with kids, a spacious play area called Grecoland offers plenty of activities until late. There is also a super convenient mini-supermarket right opposite the hotel where you can pick up milk, water, beach toys, and other essentials. What truly elevates this place is the exceptional and personalized service. Special thanks to Ioanna for the warm welcome and daily check-ins, and Alexandros, who made it his personal mission to ensure we had a great stay. Kudos also to Rafaela (meal service), Kostas and Stelios at the concierge desk, Dimitra at check-in, and Maria at Grecoland, all of whom were always so cheerful and helpful. The staff also went out of their way to surprise my wife on her birthday with a small celebration. The resort is at the mid-point between Heraklion and Chania airports. Heraklion is just over an hour away, with taxis costing €92 if booked locally. Booking through the hotel will cost you €125. This was the best hotel we've stayed at in Europe. Outstanding in every way.
