It is not everyday you can say that you’ve hiked a volcano and enjoy food grown from volcanic soil! One of a kind excursion! Our tour guide, Alessandro, went above and beyond throughout the whole day. He educated us on the history of the volcano as well as the surrounding villages, and was great at repeating terminology. Some of the group took the cable car up to the top while others hiked around the craters in which Alessandro joined and continued his explanations of Mount Etna’s landscape. He was also very generous when offering to take pictures and videos! The food and wine sampling was also wonderful! Alessandro took us to place away from Mount Etna’s base camp into a local village, which was nice because there was much less people. We got to taste multiple infused oils, wines, jams, and liqueurs. There was also an option to order food if you were looking for more to eat. I had a focaccia sandwich and it was massive! As delicious as it was, I had to save it and finish it for later. On our way back home, Alessandro continued to show and educate us on the villages we drove through. He even took us on a slight detour to the Giardini-Naxos port to see the lava flows that reached the ocean from an eruptions years ago. The only thing I would point out is to be mindful of your arranged pickup. If you are staying on Corso Umberto, it is not possible to drive throughout the street so even though you may select a pickup location on that street, the actual pickup location will be at a different location that is accessible by car. That happened to my group but Alessandro was understanding and very accommodating since it seems to be a frequent misunderstanding.

Jerry was a good tour guide. Wine was spectacular however the small plates of food could have been better. We visited three stops. Not alot of walking and not a tour to select if you are trying to experience the village. Tour was delayed one hour with little notice, otherwise I would have rated a 4.5

The tour could not have been any better. Our guide Orazio was so kind and knowlgeable, explaining lots of detail about Sicilian culture, the landscape, architecture and how everything links into the modern Mafia. He also dispelled a few myths and legends too. The lunch was stunning. Beautifully hone made Pasta Norma after a Bruschetta starter. Then, the inevitable Cannoli (leave the gun.....) and a glass of a beautiful house red or white wine. Intact, we were given another glass outside of the set menu which was a surprise; we were only expecting a Pasta dish!!!!! Forza D'Agro and Savoca as locations just speak for themselves so I won't bore you with that, other than to say that the latter was overrun with tours and we were one of only two groups at the former. I you love The Godfather movies, book this tour. If you love Sicilian towns, book this tour. If you just need to find something to do, book this tour.
