I was plagued with trepidation before staying at the Swiss Star California. I had read some negative comments on Google Maps and trip.com, and the dread of what might go wrong loomed heavy over me. However, as fate would have it, my fears were unwarranted - the hotel, or rather, the service apartment, turned out to be a pleasant surprise and surpassed my expectations. The room was clean, well-equipped, and not too shabby. The heater functioned perfectly, which was a relief since it was a frosty February in Zurich. They had everything one would expect from a basic hotel room. But here's a word of caution: after booking your stay, make sure to check your email. You will receive a message from the hotel, not just a confirmation, containing the passcode and room number. Without this information, you might find yourself stranded outside the door, with no one to receive your calls or help with check-in. Trust me; I know how it feels to be left out in the cold, frantically seeking assistance from Trip.com. Furthermore, if you have a lot of luggage, you may want to pray for a room on the ground or first floor. Unfortunately, there is no lift in the building. However, let's not forget that this is one of the most affordable places to stay in Zurich. With that in mind, who could realistically expect luxury amenities and top-notch service? All in all, Swiss Star California proved to be a pleasant surprise and an excellent value for the price.

The hotel is located near Lake Zurich. The overall price-performance ratio is not a problem in Zurich. After arriving at the hotel, the basic luggage service is up to the level of Park Hyatt. When checking in, the front desk was very enthusiastic and attentive. They actively provided us with help and introduced us to the various facilities of the hotel. When I thought I forgot my wallet at the previous hotel, I immediately offered to help contact them. The hotel room is considered large in Switzerland and has been well maintained since 2004. The only drawback is that the bathroom is a tilted angle that is more common in Europe, that is, there is no door that can be completely closed to separate the shower area. I personally don't like this design. In general, Park Hyatt Zurich is a good choice for a budget of 800-1000 Swiss francs per night.

The apartment was lovely we had a studio, every single item in the kitchen looked like it had never been used, it was immaculate and had everything you needed to cook a small dinner for two. The bed was really comfortable with an assortment of pillows and the bathroom had a really big comfortable bath. Overall really pleased with the quality. The area was brilliant you could walk into Zurich or get a bus, tram or train from directly outside the hotel. There was also a Starbucks and supermarkets with pretty much anything you needed. Oh and reception smells really nice (they are scented)

This time I was traveling and stayed at this hotel recommended by a friend. The room was very nice and the attitude of the service staff was also very good. It was very nice. I will come back next time.

All are very good, health, equipment, service are very good, why Chinese restaurant is not bad, really delicious Hunan food....................................

Overall it's pretty good, a fast chain hotel, the room is clean and modern, the room is large for the same price in Switzerland, free water is provided (need to take it from the refrigerator next to the front desk), hair dryer, bath towel, toiletries, cotton swabs and cotton pads are provided; there are no disposable slippers and toothbrushes, you need to bring your own. It's a 10-minute walk from the train station and has a good location in the city center.

I recently stayed at this hotel on November 16, 2024, and I couldn't be happier with my experience! After a long 13 hour flight from Hong Kong, I was grateful to be allowed an early check-in at 9 AM. This made a huge difference, allowing me to rest before starting my day. Mr. Filippo at the front desk was incredibly helpful. He not only assigned me a lovely room with a terrace but also provided excellent recommendations for nearby attractions, making my first day of a 13-day journey truly special. His courteous demeanor and willingness to assist were very much appreciated. The hotel's location is perfect, just a short walk to the city center and attractions, with everything you need right across the street. I was really confused about this hotel. I stayed in it twice in one week. The first time, I stayed in room 220 (single room). Although it was so small, it was clean and the facilities were normal. But the second time, I was assigned to room 222 (same single room), which was the beginning of tragedy. First of all, the hygiene of room 222 really shocked me: 1. 🩸There were traces of dried red liquid sprayed on the wall of the room (reasonable suspicion is blood/because I found that it can be wiped off with a tissue, and the color is dark red and you can't tell if you don't pay attention) but I really don't know how it got there... 2. 🕸️There were spider webs, so I called for cleaning but their eyesight was so poor that they still didn't notice it, and I wiped it off with a tissue myself. This shows that the cleaning staff and their seriousness are really slightly different. 3. There is a black spot on the bath towel 4. There are very fine hairs on the bed sheet The lady at the front desk said she was really sorry and helped me upgrade to a double room. Although the hygiene is better, the hardware facilities are poorly maintained: 1. The shower door seal is stuck, so the door cannot be closed, and water will naturally overflow outside the shower 2. The stainless steel basket is shaky and obviously needs to be reinforced with screws, but no one has done it... If you can tolerate the ”poor hygiene you may face” and ”poor maintenance”, then this hotel is still very desirable: 1. Location, location, location! A very good location, convenient to go anywhere , no need to take a taxi, and it's just a simple ten-minute walk to the airport and the train station Finally, the service depends entirely on the person. There was an old white man who accidentally opened my room (he could open it even if it was locked/luckily he was not there 💩) and a lady who admitted his mistake and helped me change rooms. The location was easy to find and access. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was quite small for two adults carrying two large suitcases, and it was quite hard to fully open both in the room simultaneously. Overall, it was still great.

I recently stayed at Ruby Mimi Hotel in Zurich for three days and two nights, and it was a delightful experience. The hotel's location is incredibly convenient, being very near Zurich HB and within walking distance of numerous shops. I was particularly pleased to receive a room upgrade upon arrival, which added a nice touch to my stay. The room was kept impeccably clean every day, which I greatly appreciated. The hotel also offers a galley where guests can make tea, refill hot water, or iron clothes—a thoughtful and practical feature. Ruby Mimi's interesting concept and excellent amenities make it a must-stay hotel in Zurich for anyone seeking convenience and comfort. Highly recommended!
