I was plagued with trepidation before staying at the Swiss Star California. I had read some negative comments on Google Maps and trip.com, and the dread of what might go wrong loomed heavy over me. However, as fate would have it, my fears were unwarranted - the hotel, or rather, the service apartment, turned out to be a pleasant surprise and surpassed my expectations. The room was clean, well-equipped, and not too shabby. The heater functioned perfectly, which was a relief since it was a frosty February in Zurich. They had everything one would expect from a basic hotel room. But here's a word of caution: after booking your stay, make sure to check your email. You will receive a message from the hotel, not just a confirmation, containing the passcode and room number. Without this information, you might find yourself stranded outside the door, with no one to receive your calls or help with check-in. Trust me; I know how it feels to be left out in the cold, frantically seeking assistance from Trip.com. Furthermore, if you have a lot of luggage, you may want to pray for a room on the ground or first floor. Unfortunately, there is no lift in the building. However, let's not forget that this is one of the most affordable places to stay in Zurich. With that in mind, who could realistically expect luxury amenities and top-notch service? All in all, Swiss Star California proved to be a pleasant surprise and an excellent value for the price.

The room is a bit small, but considering that it is a hotel renovated from an entire private house (in a residential area), the original rooms should be divided into multiple rooms. The overall decoration is very new, newer than most hotels in Switzerland. There is free swiss chocclate at the front desk of the hotel, which is very delicious. What is commendable is that the hotel provides a microwave at the front desk, and guests can borrow various tools from the hotel restaurant on the first floor, so they can buy food from the supermarket outside and heat it up. Overall it feels like a family hotel

Staying for two days on business, I feel very good. The room was clean and the breakfast was good. The location is also very close to the No. 4 tram, which can be directly connected to Zurich HB. Just completed a night's stay and the service I received from the WhatsApp crew* is excellent. Clean and very picturesque setting. I must say its a techy kind of scenario with Smart Locks etc *Shout out to JENNY who helped me thru the online check-in process. A wonderful Fräulein with excellent English and interpersonal skills, essential for some of us who do not sprechen deutsch!😬😬

This time I was traveling and stayed at this hotel recommended by a friend. The room was very nice and the attitude of the service staff was also very good. It was very nice. I will come back next time.

This hotel is beautiful! It has a lovely garden with many art pieces. The hotel is classic. The staffs are extremely helpful and friendly.
