Zhuhai Dong'ao Island Marriott Resort Hotel

Traveled to Dong Ao island and stayed for two nights. The island is rather small and its natural beauty still remains very original. It has not yet been exploited by lots of tourism so it feels very authentic. Had a wonderful stay at this resort hotel. The hotel electric shuttle buses wait by the port for the guests when arriving so that’s very convenient. Once we got in the hotel lobby we were welcomed by Sue, the front office assistant manager. She explained about the hotel to us and upgraded our room. She also sent me all the timetables for the shuttle busses and opening time of the different restaurants of the hotel. She escorted us to the room and wished us a pleasant stay. She also told us about the special promotion for the buffet restaurant and helped us to book a table. The manager of the restaurant, Haron, welcomed us when we arrived to the restaurant for dinner and assisted us with our dietary needs. He was very professional and friendly. He remembered our preferences throughout our stay. He went out of his way to make us feel happy and enjoy dining in the restaurant. During our second evening, we we by the port area and wanted to go go back. One of the shuttle bus drivers, named Jack, drove us back although it wasn’t time yet according to the schedule. He was very nice and I enjoyed chatting with him through the way to the hotel. I recommend this destination for those who prefer a calm and beautiful scenery and Marriott would off course be the best choice. I hope I can get the chance to go there soon again.

Overpriced and disappointing When we arrived, we have to wait half an hour to check in Then almost two hours get a room, with not much to do but waiting in the lobby with all families in the same situation as us. The hotel is new and huge but not very convenient. Pool is hard to find, far from the rooms and doesn't have shade during the hot hours It is surrounded by other hotels under construction. Breakfast is ok but not great Beach downstairs has nice sand but the water is too dirty to swim in, full of trzsh Overall, the hotel is not that bad but too expensive for what it offers. We're were staying in Gree hotel the previous time and wanted to give it a try here, but it's definitely less value for money. We won't come back

Its a new hotel and the room is great! Comfy bed and a lovely shower with a great view over the beach. Unfortunately the beach is full of trash and you are technically not allowed to swim on any beach around the island. Swimming pool area is not up to 5 star and neither was the breakfast. Overall its fine but wouldn’t go back until those things were rectified.

Hotel itself and services were very good. However, still stinking paintings after opening. Water in pool dirty, beach dirty incl. rests of construction garbage ( concrete pieces with armoring wire ). There is not so much to do on the island. Lot of constructions there. Trip around island was … simply not that good as expected. Everywhere on the natural beaches and around constructions unbelievable mess of garbage. Next to the hotel is a construction of another hotel.

Good place to go with family.
