Zhangjiajie Old House View Sunrise Inn

To catch the sunrise at Tianzi Mountain and maximize our sightseeing time without repeatedly entering and exiting the forest park, we specifically booked a guesthouse on the mountain. We chose Laochangwu Guesthouse, which has a platform for viewing the sunrise. Given the inconvenient access on the mountain, my expectations for the accommodation weren't very high. However, upon arrival, I was pleasantly surprised to find the room spacious, clean, and comfortable. The owners are a very warm and welcoming family; the elder brother is an excellent cook, and dinner plus breakfast cost 50 RMB per person. After watching the sunrise and having breakfast, the younger brother even drove us to the Sky Garden scenic area. That's where the main scenes from Avatar were filmed, with the Hallelujah Mountains (Qiankunzhu) seemingly within reach and the 'Divine Soldiers' (Shenbing Liedui) standing in formation. If the clouds cooperate, it genuinely looks like the stone pillars are flying. I believe this is the most iconic spot in Zhangjiajie.

Right across the road, it has its own exclusive viewing platform with a panoramic view, allowing you to fully take in the main attractions of Tianzi Mountain. Sitting on a beach chair, observing the peculiar peaks and stones, the rising and falling clouds, the shifting light and shadows, and especially the beautiful sunrise, is truly refreshing and invigorating. 2. The on-demand shuttle service makes this mountaintop guesthouse feel as convenient as if it were right next to Sanchakou station. 3. The staff were genuinely warm and accommodating, offering free rides multiple times for our families to visit attractions like 'Airborne Garden' and 'Divine Soldiers Gathering,' which are 1.7 kilometers away, all in response to our requests. 4. They took our suggestions into account when arranging the menu, providing stir-fried dishes with a good balance of meat and vegetables, and hot soup. This was incredibly comforting and delicious for us, being in our 70s, after a long day of travel. The owner has a laid-back and generous demeanor, and the staff are honest and kind; they are always ready to help and are incredibly warm and thoughtful.

Enjoy incredible stargazing at night, stunning sunrises in the morning, and a breathtaking sea of clouds after rainfall! The guesthouse features a private viewing platform directly opposite. Its location right inside the scenic area is perfect for avoiding crowds and exploring at your own pace. The owner is incredibly welcoming, and the food is delicious. I would definitely come back!
