I visited Center Parcs De Eemhof last summer and was excited to try the Wave Rider. Unfortunately, my experience turned into a nightmare when I suffered a serious accident. During my turn, I broke my nose on the Wave Rider, which was an extremely painful and distressing experience. Accidents can happen, however, the instructor ushered me past the queue through the unsafe route, due to another go from a quick ride. This caused me to drop into the start pit and smash my face first on a sharp ledge. What shocked me the most was the lack of proper safety measures and the poor response from staff. I expected better supervision and clearer safety instructions to prevent such incidents, my daughter had to hit the red stop button to stop the ride and strong flow of water. To make matters worse, after my injury, the staff's response was disappointing. I bled out a large amount of constant blood, they didnt call an ambulance, my partner had to perform first aid, whilst looking after for 4 children. I had to walk through the communal pool which was extremely busy, dripping blood everywhere to the locker room and showers, getting stared at, my daughter also feinted. The life guards couldnt help as they said there was not enough of them and they had to life guard the other areas, why the serious injuries that occured were not the priority and closing other areas, should be reviewed as a matter of urgency. I felt that my injury was not taken seriously enough, and the situation could have been handled with much more care. At present the case is going through centre parcs insurance broker Marsh for injury compensation, but this process is slow and both parties are not responding in adequate time. I have since had to have surgery twice with life changing injuries to my nose (full reconstruction) I urge you to put your family first for safety and visit with caution, knowing that there are no adequate first aiders at this park.
