BOOK SOMEWHERE ELSE! We spent 3 weeks in 8 accommodations, and this is the only one we weren't happy with! BEWARE - tax is charged on top of the price that you see online. This is not the same for Philippine-owned hotels, only for this Russian-owned hotel. RUSSIAN OWNER ARGUED WITH ME OVER FOOD - in a painful situation that I struggle to forget, I ordered ribs. The smallest portion of ribs you've ever seen came out, and I ate them. I then asked if that was a full portion or not, and suggested that it must have been a starter portion. The female Russian owner came over and argued the toss with me for 20 mins at the table! I tried to back out of it and say I'd pay, but she wanted to continue to make my night even more depressing. DON'T BOOK THIS HOTEL! Ok, from the top... the place has a depressing atmosphere. The Russian owners are always sat, smoking in the non-smoking area, creating a strange, unfriendly atmosphere in the outdoor restaurant. People in the Philippines are happy, but all of the staff here seem depressed! The waitresses can't forge a smile, and the reception staff can't even manage to make a phone call to find a boat to the next island for you. We tried for 45 mins, and I ended up working it out myself! Some of the portions of food are small and EXTORTIONATELY over-priced. Wild dogs bark all night, like you've never heard in your life. The diving instructors are the most work-shy we saw in the Philippines. We attended a scuba trip just to snorkel on Apo Island, and unfortunately the instructors tried to end the trip after just two dives, which was at 1.30pm. We'd arrived at Apo at 1030. After discussion with the instructors, they agreed to stay another hour, but they made sure it was painful for us.
