She also talked about Nanhu and Wenchang Road, and was very cordial. With the development of Hongcun's tourism industry, I returned to the village in 2013 to run a homestay. In order to provide a better homestay experience, I renovated the homestay again in 2023 and reduced the number of rooms. This is what my two children said was the best homestay experience on this trip to Huizhou. The 1.5-meter twin bed room has a desk for doing homework, a clean and tidy bathroom, and floor heating that was turned on in advance. The children still remember it very much.

The boss picked us up at the south gate and took our luggage. He was very enthusiastic.
The hotel is right next to the moon marsh, but it is not messy at night. There is a small balcony on the second floor. It is very comfortable to drink tea at night.

Not necessarily shining brightly, but there is always light. The South Lake View Garden stands by the core attraction of the Hongcun Scenic Area, South Lake, where you can hide the life you long for. The homestay is divided into two buildings, Building 1 and Building 2. Building 1 has a rare lake view room and a lake view balcony in Hongcun. We drove to the parking lot at the south gate of Hongcun. The housekeeper came to the entrance of the scenic spot to pick up the luggage. It was a 2-3 minute walk. There are two courtyards. We stayed in courtyard 2 and chose a room with a slide. The children loved it.

The first time I lived in a house with 200 years of history! Parts of it looks like a museum, but the rooms are modernized in a nice way! Seriously, it looks like a fancy tea place or a private mansion, never expected a hotel like this! The owner lady was very nice, showed the way to the place (navigation in the village is a bit difficult for a newcomer) and helped to change the room to a single bed when heard that my friend was not coming. Very friendly approach! I would recommend this place to anyone, who would like to get an authentic experience of Hongcun village!

My parents are traveling by car. I helped them choose this B&B in Hongcun. It is worth the money. First of all, the location is very good, right in the scenic area. The environment is also very good, with its own small yard. The best thing is that the boss is a nice person, very responsible and enthusiastic. There are beautiful scenery everywhere in Jiangnan in April! I have longed for the picturesque Hongcun for a long time, and this time I finally made the trip. Passing by Zhilan Youmeng B&B, I was attracted by the green persimmon tree in the courtyard. I sat under the tree and didn't want to leave. By the way, I asked about the room price and felt it was very reasonable. The room was clean and well-equipped. The plum tree outside the window was elegant in shape, so I decided to stay for one night. The boss was talkative and enthusiastic, and introduced us to the surrounding attractions. The B&B is next to Nanhu Lake, and it is recommended to get up early in the morning for beautiful photos.

I think Wenshe is worth the money in terms of facilities and services. The service needs on WeChat and phone were responded to quickly, and the pick-up service from the scenic area to the west gate was very timely. The room was clean and comfortable, with welcome fruits, no odor, and moderate temperature. The garden is large and quiet. The breakfast was very good and delicious. When the weather is good, you can eat in the open air in the sun. For dinner, it is recommended to tell the chef in advance so that it is convenient to prepare the dishes. When I left, there were white tea (actually green tea) tea leaves and custom cups that the boss likes very much. I really like it. I will go there in a different season next time~

Absolutely fantastic place! The host is an extremely kind woman and helped us find our way around and cooks delicious dumplings. The location couldn't be better as it's just off the main road but secluded in a charming alley. Our room was very clean and gave an authentic ancient Chinese feel. Aircon and internet were very nice to have. I can recommend everyone to stay here a few days when visiting Hongcun, Xidi and climb the Yellow Mountain!

The room is very nice. I took the elderly out to play and they all praised it.
The service is super nice. The hotel provides a lobby on the first floor for guests to rest. It also prepares tea, fruit and baked sweet potatoes.
The food is also delicious, but it is a bit salty for people like me who like light taste. If you have the same preference, you can remind the hotel to make the dishes lighter.
The housekeeper asked me if I had any opinions, and I replied that I couldn't think of them for the time being. The only 0.5 points deducted is that the surrounding area is being renovated, and it may be a little dusty when you return to the hotel.
That's right! There are two fat cats and a parrot in the hotel. It feels quite novel.

It took 45 minutes to get here by taxi from the South Gate of Huangshan. The lady at the check-in desk was very nice and upgraded us to a family room to relieve our fatigue after coming down from Huangshan. She also brought us warm red bean sweet soup. The first impression was perfect💯.
The public lounge area in the atrium is quite Japanese and green. The sun shines through the green bamboo and falls on the tatami. It is very comfortable to have tea, chat and relax here. The breakfast environment is great. There is a terrace outside the three-sided floor-to-ceiling glass. There are many semi-self-service open stalls. The current dried bamboo shoots and shredded pork noodles and seaweed wontons taste good.
The room is spacious and comfortable. The bathroom facilities are all Kohler, and the towels and toiletries are also well equipped.
There will be a battery car to take you to the West Gate parking lot when you go to Hongcun. It is very close to walk in~ In short, it lives up to the reputation of a boutique and characteristic homestay. It is recommended that you can choose here when you come to Hongcun

XXuelangyiAs an authentic Huizhou native who left home when I was young, I came to Hongcun and met Zhang Gongguan for the first time, but I was amazed by the whole ink painting Qingming. After walking through the streets and alleys, I finally found the low-key house number. I opened a small door and opened a paradise. The antique Ming and Qing Dynasty old houses, restored in the Hui-style style, and simple and elegant furniture make people feel like they have traveled through time and space and returned to the prosperous ancient Huizhou of the past. In the front hall and back yard, the centuries-old mottled walls are paired with the black and white colors of Qingming rain, but it also has a sense of vicissitudes like ”in the old days, when kings went to the hall and swallows flew into the homes of ordinary people”, it was as if they were in a Chinese ink painting. This is an old house with a history of 300 years. It is located in the core scenic area of Hongcun. It only takes 3 minutes to walk to Moon Marsh. There are many types of guest rooms with different styles. Almost all of them feature Chinese retro style. The carved wooden beds, wooden couches and dressing tables are all antique designs. The calligraphy, paintings and porcelain in the room highlight the famous Hui school. The door is an antique wooden door latch. key. The facilities in the bathroom are absolutely high-end. Dyson hair dryers and Hermès bath products are both rich in history and considerate. The owner lives with his guests and has four cats, several courtyards, and a beautiful swimming pool. The guests can drink tea and relax while leaning on the garden view. The butler's service was extremely attentive. He asked about the soundproofing at night, prepared a heart-warming breakfast in the morning, took our luggage all the way from the parking lot to the CI, dragged our luggage up the narrow stairs of the old house, and used a small electric donkey to carry our luggage again before we left. Return to the parking lot. I want to say here that the wooden stairs in the old Hui-style houses are narrow and shaky, and the sound insulation between the rooms is not very good. If you come to immerse yourself in the old house life, don’t complain and pay more attention to yourself. In short, this place really made my impression of Hongcun become more beautiful and full of nostalgia. It is undoubtedly the best private hotel in the village, and it feels like a dream that I will never wake up from.

Location: This guesthouse is a 5 minute drive from the main Hongcun Village entrance and the owners kindly drove us there! Although this hotel isn’t inside the village itself, it’s still convenient and in a quiet location!
It’s a 1 hour drive from the Huangshan North Railway station and 1 hour drive to the Huangshan Tangkou Transfer Center.
Food: There’s a restaurant on-site which has an extensive dinner menu. Honestly, you can have breakfast, lunch and dinner without leaving the premises! Very convenient and the food is good quality- highly recommend.
Amenities: The guesthouse is newly renovated and has top notch furnishings. Everything is clean and comfortable. The floor heating was nice to have in December!

Unlike most hotels within the village, this hotel has conserved the architecture of the exterior and interior of the over 300 years old structure. It is well maintained with modern amenities and a nice manicured garden filled with bonsai plants. The Chinese breakfast was simple and nice. The menu has a good range of beverages and the food was good at reasonable prices.
The room we stayed was small but cozy. It is within the main building and just outside the room there is a reading lounge. It was quiet and hardly used while we were there.

GGuest UserMy family and I (5 of us) recently had the pleasure of staying at this charming homestay in Hongcun for two days and one night, and it was a wonderful experience from start to finish. The building, steeped in history at 400 years old, is located relatively close to the West entrance, making access a breeze. The rooms were beautifully decorated, clean, and well-kept. Although I initially booked three specific rooms, they were unavailable due to renovation. However, I was provided with three other rooms that turned out to be more spacious, which was a delightful surprise.
The lobby felt incredibly welcoming, with a cozy living-room-style atmosphere. There’s a lovely café to the left and a souvenir shop to the right, adding a nice touch of convenience and charm as you walk toward the living area. Wan Jie (elder sister Wan), the host, was truly hospitable and attentive. Her warmth shone through from our first phone call, which she answered cheerfully while helping arrange our pickup, as cars aren’t allowed into Hongcun, a UNESCO Heritage Site.
One of the highlights of this homestay was the restaurant nestled in a ”secret” garden—a serene and picturesque spot where my family and I could have happily spent more time. The food was delicious and reasonably priced, adding to the overall experience. Though it was too cool to use during my visit, the homestay also features a pool that would be perfect for summer days.
At the end of our stay, Wan Jie went above and beyond by accompanying us to the village exit to wait for our driver, ensuring everything went smoothly before saying her goodbyes. It’s rare to experience such personalized hospitality, and it made a memorable impression on us.
Based on my positive experience, I would highly recommend this homestay to anyone visiting Hongcun. It’s a unique blend of history, comfort, and genuine hospitality that truly enhances the visit.

DDavidPGPerfect location, very friendly and helpful staff. The entrance to the hotel is a cute, beautiful courtyard, everything is close by. Communication was easy via WeChat, they came to pick us up and carried out heavy luggage all the way to the parking lot, and helped us do laundry in the hotel. The only comments are that the room got some noise from the street, which was very busy at all times, and it wasn’t very well ventilated. They replaced our towels and toiletries but they didn’t make the bed or clean up the room.
In any case this is a great choice for spending a couple of nights right in the middle of Hongcun!

EEstelle_MiiIt's a short distance from the main street, and it's relatively quiet. I took my children and stayed there for two nights on the way back. The room has heating, and it's very comfortable to live in. It's more convenient to live in Hongcun by car, and you can go to several surrounding villages quickly. The ancient buildings in Xidilu Village are better preserved, and there are fewer people.

The clear stream that has been flowing for many years has been nourishing the village life and irrigation water system for hundreds of years. The old houses of Huizhou Prefecture salt merchants and silk satin merchants are hidden among tallow trees and rice fields. During the period, it tells the past events of Huizhou merchants. The ancient village is a bit sad and beautiful, a bit smart but not lacking in vitality. The vitality truly comes from Tachuan Academy built by a few young people. In Tachuan Academy, you can watch clouds, listen to springs, step on rice waves, smell the fragrance of rice, wait for sunset and admire the red leaves of century-old tallow trees. B&B owners and partners work together with their deep local insights to build a beautiful life platform where rural and urban areas blend. The owners of the B&B are either diligent and thrifty in the rice fields and streams, or studying in prestigious universities, or traveling to improve their knowledge. They are grand, natural, modest and young and mature. The owner of the B&B has never stopped studying after graduating from college. Her longitude, latitude and altitude support her attitude and cognition towards the B&B. A few young people worked persistently on a deserted village and farmland, gathered sand to form a pagoda, and a stream flowed into the river. They finally created the peaceful and harmonious Tachuan Academy, creating a spiritual home that advocates truth, goodness and beauty. Mr. Liang Shuming wrote a book ”Will the World Be Better?” 》. NNatascha B.Very nice hotel, perfectly located opposite of the Hongcun Scenic area. The staff was very welcoming and set up a Wechat group for infos and questions. Our room was very clean and cosy. The hotel has a free afternoon-tea from 2-5pm and you have to make a reservation in advance because the time seats are limited. It is located in a cost tea house. The tea and snacks served were nice and delicious. The outdoor pool was refreshing and clean, with a nice view. To Hongcun you can just take a 5 minute walk and leave the car at the hotel. There is also a Covid-Testing station directly next to the entrance of the Scenic area. For breakfast they had a big selection of local food, we really liked it. The only negative point we have to say that the tea in the morning tasted not good, they didn’t use filtered water, so it had a moldy old taste. All in all I can really recommend the hotel and would book it again. The location and the staff was really great!
