Xinging jiayi Shiguang Hotel

ON ARRIVAL, ALWAYS CHECK THAT THE ROOM RATE FOR THE DAY IS LOWER THAN WHAT YOU BOOKED. THEN CANCEL YOUR ONLINE BOOKING. 😄 Bathroom was not quite clean and you can smell the slight unpleasant odour from the drainage. Second day, the room was not made up and water bottles not replenished. The water from the water cooler machine in the lobby was terrible and tasted like water with chemicals in it. It being September, quite cool, but the hotel would only turn on the power for the room AC in the evening, and turn off your AC main power around midnight. Fortunately it was not hot in the room from midnight to the morning. But I have never stayed at a hotel that turns off your AC power at midnight!

Toilet have foul sewage smell, toilet door has no lock, water mixer was either very hot or cold. The water can not be adjusted to a comfortable warm temperature during the shower time. The shower was in the same space with the toilet bowl, and there wasn't any partition separating them. The toilet bowl was wet after the shower. Toilet floor mat was not provided so stepping out of the shower cum toilet room with wet feet. The next day, the room was not made when we came back in the late evening. Drinking water, fresh towels, shower bath soap, shampoo and toilet papers were not replenished. The air-conditioning was switched off by hotel staff around midnight, affecting our sleep when we felt the room turned warm. The room conditions and the service of the hotel did not justify the amount that we had paid for. We also noticed that we had paid much higher than the board rate stated at the hotel front desk. It was like 40 percents higher than the hotel board rate.

The hotel is well located but it’s very worn out. The photos aren’t a true reflection of the rooms. The rooms are much older and run down than what the photos present.

We had booked two rooms. Should have checked prior but turns out this building doesn't have a lift. Makes it tiresome to climb 5 levels up. But great commendation to the staffs. They were extremely helpful and went out of their way to ensure we had everything we needed. Unfortunately the building is outdated and likely needs to be refurbished. Location works well for us as it is near to food and shopping.
