We selected the Premier Inn Manchester Airport (Heald Green) for a one-night pre-flight stay, as it is right next to NCP Flightpath long-term parking where we had reserved car parking for balance of a holiday. We arrived at the hotel and parked outside. The hotel provides free parking only for the night(s) that you stay at the accommodation. The Hotel presents a two storey building, built perhaps in the 1970's which adjoins a much older traditional black & white pub. We entered a rather dated vestibule and from there into the small hotel lobby. We were warmly greeted by Lisa who explained the opening times of the bar and restaurant and allocated a room on the upper floor of the hotel. There is no lift, so we climbed the staircase, went through a fire door and into a rather shabby, ill-lit and dated corridor. We found our room which had the usual Premier Inn furniture including a double bed, wall-unit (with TV, shelves, hanging space, kettle and mugs etc), a desk, desk chair and easy-chair. There was a small bathroom with over-bath shower, a couple of white towels and pump-dispensers for handwash and shampoo. The shower curtain however had that nasty pungent and musty smell. The smell permeated the whole bathroom. There view was to the rear of the buildings, which showed that all ground-floor windows had security bars on the outside of each. Decor was tired. Wood joinery had gaps. The stuffing from the inside of the easy chair was hanging out (photos attached). The whole place is way below the standard of other Premier Inns. It is in need of complete renovation. Friendly staff and proximity to the NCP Flightpath car park being the only advantages of a stay here.
