Swan Hotel

The place itself is a nice setting and I can’t fault the staff who were very attentive and polite. However when it came to the food the leg of lamb that I thought it was going to be turned out to be 3 small slices of dry pieces of lamb, the vegetables were bland with no seasoning and the potatoes were ok. I would have given this three stars but then the bill came and it was £103 for three of us and the service charge on top which isn’t ideal. We had starters and a main and no pudding. A real shame because again the staff were spot on but the food really let it down and for that price, I could go to Toby Carvery for cheaper and more bang for your buck as well as tasting better.

We visited the not too far away Bristol Aerospace and then spent 2 nights at the Swan Hotel. Our stay was for dinner B&B which was great value. Our 1st night was Sunday and we both had roast beef. It was delicious with loads of fresh veggies. Great beer too and very friendly staff. Our room was comfy and warm. And we enjoyed a long walk on the Monday morning followed by a wander around the little town. Our dinner by the fire finished the visit off very nicely. Fish and chips were gorgeous. Booked a table in the bar for 12pm …. Always book the bar , it’s got more atmosphere. Picked the table right next to the log fire , very cosy … Lots of free tables but soon started to fill up … Menu choice very good , and very well priced . Coffee excellent

We had a very warm welcome on arriving at the hotel. As a family who had two rooms connected by a bathroom. Everything was very clean and well presented. We had all the facilites needed. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the cosy atmosphere and were made to feel at home. Breakfast and dinner were fantastic! There are some beautiful walks and great views to take in. My children didn't want to leave! Thank you for a lovely few days.

Poor service was due to the team looking like they didn't want to be there, not interested in what we needed, lack of attention. They really let down the whole experience. We ate in the restaurant one night and while the food was delicious and hot, it was let down by the poor very slow service. Had to wait ages for drinks, the young server propped himself up on the post staring around the room while he took our order, we had to call him to get more drinks. I'm thankful we didn't ask for variations of the meal because I would have no confidence he'd relay it correctly. Other diners experienced the same slow to take and deliver orders as we did. Food reasonably priced. Had the vegetable tagine and husband had the Goan curry, both full of flavor and hot. Liked the British tapas options as appetizers. Eat elsewhere if service is important. Falcon steakhouse was brilliant. Stayed in room 9 but had booked room 8 but due to issues taking payment 7 days before arrival they had unreserved the room allowing it to be booked by another guest. Not impressed as I had called and received assurances my reservation was ok. Again, poor service. Room 9 was however, very nice, spacious with King bed. On the back of hotel so quiet. Despite the in room info book saying there wasn't wifi, there was but it took for me to ask at reception to be advised what the code was and even the original person had to go and ask someone Breakfast is pathetic, a very light continental as described. The service on all aspect was sub standard but dinner and room excellent

Excellent facilities, great service and food. Really useful for small private conference facilities and no expensive parking charges to pay as good parking availability in the village. Would highly recommend and will be using in the future.
